Splashh come from London and play garage rock like it was the 90's and they came from west coast USA. This isn't a bad thing at all. In fact on their debut album its a very good thing. They wear their influences well and you can hear it throughout this throwback, pysch leaning debut. Garage rock numbers like Vacation sound like they are from another era and bring back memories of the indie 3 minute rock track. Headspins could easily fit onto any Pixies album, it sounds like Frank Black and his band and is a great opening number. So Young is a head down stomp of rock which you only imagine would be blissful live. Sometimes sounding like Sebadoh, sometimes like the Pixies and sometimes like an amalgam of all those bands and more its a joyful record that display more indie roots as it progresses. The only quibble is that they don't have their own sound and sometimes it feels too much like the influences. Having said that anyone who loved the bands I have referenced above will love this.
