Beware of fakes
on 27 June 2014
I have answered the Customer Questions & Answers 'Why have I been told by APPLE that the ipad charger cable is NOT a genuine charger cable?' question with the following:
Be careful of buying from a third party seller. Sure, the item can be cheaper sometimes when sold by a third party but it's sometimes worth the little extra in cost to see it's being dispatched from and sold by Amazon. It's almost certainly going to be genuine if it is. You can usually find More Buying Choices (sellers) on the right hand side.
After reading the reviews I went with dispatched from and sold by Amazon at a cost of £7.79 instead of a cheap third party seller and I'm pleased to say it is or appears genuine. I've bought the cheap 'Genuine' ones with plastic ends instead of rubber ends before from eBay for a similar price to the cheapest on here (£3.60 inc P&P at the time of writing this).
When you look at the official Apple site and see them selling for £15 it's pretty obvious you're not going the get an authentic cable for £3.60 in my opinion. It's the old saying 'You get what you pay for' although there's still good prices to be found if sold by reputable resellers such as Amazon. Having said that though not every cheap third party seller will be selling fakes. You may have just been unlucky.
