The book is laid out with a brief introduction on the birth of the tour followed by a brief history with top 10 standings of every year that it has been going as well as a preview to the 2013 tour. At the back is the tour classifications with all the winners of the tour, the points race, King of the mountains and the Young Rider race. There are also tour records like smallest gap between winners. There are also a quick reference Roll of Honour which giveving the top 3's with the distance and average Speed. It's a very good quick reference book with all the up to date standings.
It's big, it's not your standard hardback so you can't read it in the bath. But read it everywhere else, it's stunningly good even if you have only a mild interest in cycling as a sport. It'll captivate you. For the cycling geeks, it's seriously good in text, pics, format, presentation, etc etc. I'll be pulling this off the shelf in long winter nights in my old age to immerse in it.
I bought this as part of an anniversay present for my husband, a mad cyclist. He has many books on cycling including the Tour de France, however, this is a great Anniversary book (the tour's 100th, not just ours) with great pictures following the history of the tour from the beginning todate. A nice book for the collection, which he seems very happy with.
Read this book at the weekend whilst on a cycling break, Its a great book full of superb photos, the layout is a history of the tour with a double spread for each year. More information in the later years and loved the fact it includes Lances downfall.
I bought this book for my brother for Christmas as he is a big cycling fan and he loved it. It had lots of info and photos inside and is well presented. It covers all there is to know about the race through the 100yrs. Recommended for cycling fans everywhere
Another e-book for my husband and his new Kindle e-Reader, he enjoyed it and was pleased to be able to read a book without having the weight of a print edition, as he has bought quite a few the cheaper price for digital books is very welcome as well.
Bought as a present for a 60 year old (going on 30) cycling nut for his birthday. Just as interesting for someone not so addicted to the sport and great value. Arrived in an enormous box - certainly didn't look like a book when it came.
