2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
Not sure who this was written for - the stories are very simple and would suit KS1 but the follow up suggested tasks are clearly for KS2, lower KS3. Odd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really valuable time-saver!, 21 Oct 2010
As a headteacher who believes assemblies are absolutely central to a happy, successful school, I am always on the look-out for high-quality resources to use during this special time. 'More Brilliant Stories' is just such a resource. The stories are simple-to-understand, appropriate for a wide age range and each gives the opportunity to draw out a clear message for the children. The links to SEAL themes and helpful prompts at the end of each story mean this is a resource I can pick up and use without lots of searching for extra resources. The stories are just the right length (unlike some assembly resources I have) and the children really enjoy listening to them and always have comments to share. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars More Brilliant Assemblies, 8 Oct 2010
As a retired Head and visiting college tutor/consultant, I have been involved in taking school assemblies for nearly 40 years and firmly believe that this daily time of fellowship should be one of the most important parts of a school day. Having high quality materials available - such as this anthology of stories - to support staff, who are involved in this work, is extremely helpful.
The opportunities for children these days to sit, listen to and enjoy a well- written and a well-told story are becoming increasingly rare. The pictures in a child's imagination are often much better and more powerful than some of those that bombard them from video, TV and computer.

I have had the privilege of watching Elizabeth Sach hold a hall full of children spellbound as she has shared some of these stories with them.
The book is clearly laid out and SEAL themes are identified and cross-referenced. It is a very welcome additional resource for those members of staff who have a responsibility for leading assemblies. I thoroughly recommend it.

Proof will be in the using of this assembly book. So far, I haven't used it as the themes are not Christmassy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Brilliant book!, 18 Sep 2010

Another great book from Brilliant Publications. I found the first book invaluable and 'More Brilliant Stories for Assemblies' is already a favourite. Anyone who has to lead regular assemblies will know how crucial it is to have an assembly book you can depend on. This book is clearly categorised so you can find a story for your theme and the follow up suggestions are a great help. The stories are beautifully written with imaginative characters your children will delight in hearing about.
