This is a quality compilation from 'Ace' records - certain other reissue labels won't dare reissue any tracks beyond 1962 as they will have to put their hands in their wallets - well done 'Ace' - a company that respects artist's and gives em' their dues. There are 28 tracks on the compilation all in glorious Mono (72.16 minutes long). The sound quality is excellent as always. This is the 9th in the series so far and is one of the best. I can understand one reviewers annoyance with no Roy Orbison tracks but lets face it - anyone who remotely loves music has these awesome tracks already. It's a diverse collection as usual - Hits, misses, classics and rarities sit side by side. There are great tracks by Del Shannon, Terry Stafford, Ben E. King, the Crystals and a whole lot more - 'Little lonely summer girl' by David Box is fantastic (with its mixture of elements - surf music, an early Spector production and sounding like a 'Crickets' track). There is a quality 24 page colour booklet that's packaged with label scans, pictures and track by track informative liner notes. Overall, a great compilation with great sound quality (except: one of the best tracks 'Baby come home' by Ruby & the Romantics sounds like a disc dub - with slight distortion and audible clicks). Still highly recommended though, 4.5 stars would be more accurate.

This release keeps up Ace records high standard of liner notes and quality mastering. Great to hear Terry Stafford and Ned Miller.

4.0 out of 5 stars Days gone down, 1 July 2013
This review is from: The London American Label Year By Year: 1964 (Audio CD)
The year of the British Invasion didn't see that much change re American music. The Chartbusters for instance had a pedigree which went back to the rockabilly of Bobby Poe & the Poekats and they made the Top 30 with a Beatles soundalike.London also issued singles by John & Paul and the You Know Who Group as labels tried to convince collectors they had Beatles connections
Noticable here are a few tracks which were withdrawn from the shops but then Ace have issued a CD with a mere handful of Top 20 hits and the only chart topper in music which could have survived in the 20s-Hello Dolly by Louis Armstrong

Latest in the series of London American tribute cd's ,but one with a whopping great hole in it! How anyone can issue a cd that omits London America's biggest seling artiste of the year with 2 number 1's,3 top 10 and 4 top 20 discs beats me!That said it's all top notch stuff and there is clearly scope for a volume 2-if only to rectify that howler!!
