5.0 out of 5 stars The 1980's English family
This is one of my very favorite British sitcom. I like this type of comedy: no foul language, family-based, simple, yet entertaining. It was made back in the early 1980's when family values mattered to all of us. There was no internet, no cell phones, no satellite dishes with thousands of useless TV channels. the humor is derived from the very nature of the average family...

2.0 out of 5 stars Total Rip Off
This is the biggest waste of 39.99 I have ever spent....plus postage as this doesn't qualify for 'Amazon Prime' . This price from Amazon (although not supplied by Amazon) is a total rip off. How can anyone justify that cost for a series that was on tv in 1983?

This is one of my very favorite British sitcom. I like this type of comedy: no foul language, family-based, simple, yet entertaining. It was made back in the early 1980's when family values mattered to all of us. There was no internet, no cell phones, no satellite dishes with thousands of useless TV channels. the humor is derived from the very nature of the average family around the world, and the English family in particular. I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the series (only series 1 & 2 are available at the date of this review). William Gaunt and Patricia Garwood play the dedicated traditional decent parents who spent the past 24 years raising their four kids, on the hope that each of them will find their careers and their own accommodations. But things, ironically, always go the wrong way, and for one reason or another, the kids will often have to go back to stay home with their parents until they find alternative accommodation. I will not mention more details. Hopefully the rest of the series will become available on dvd soon ( I got tired of the dominance of the cliched worn-out commercial American sitcoms )

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Beat the classics!, 9 Feb 2012

You can't beat the classics when it comes to TV sitcoms!

This DVD was excellent and even though the TV series itself is 80's you can't beat the classics!

A lot of own TV Sitcoms are being released on dvd so will buy rest of this series once available.

If you like Martin Clunes you'll love this dvd.

2.0 out of 5 stars Total Rip Off, 5 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the biggest waste of 39.99 I have ever spent....plus postage as this doesn't qualify for 'Amazon Prime' . This price from Amazon (although not supplied by Amazon) is a total rip off. How can anyone justify that cost for a series that was on tv in 1983?

I have recently bought the complete set of Highway to Heaven which is an American import for 28 per series. Total paid...84 for 58 hours worth of episodes which were released in 1984, 1985 and 1986.

What have I got with No Place Like Home? A dvd which lasts for 2 hours 22 mins. I'm just glad I didn't order the second series as well. That would have been another 40 plus postage and no doubt another DVD which only lasts just over 2 hours.
