This film has two things going for it a decent poster and DVD cover and a great cast.
Shame it did not live up to my reasonable expectations which were fueled by the packaging.
Once again the back cover blurb has been written by someone who has obviously either not seen the movie or more likely fell asleep part way through as the write-up leads you to expect a decent revenge style movie.
Sadly the plot is nothing like the blurb and that has seriously downgraded my rating.
There is no car crash here, Christian Slater is not a lone survivor seeking revenge on these students; his family were killed by a drunk driving student years ago and he now has a downer on all students.
Basically a college student persuades his teacher to take a group of students to his family home for a weekend break and to try some Chumash hallucinogenic drugs.
As befits the writer of Point Break it opens with a surfing scene, cut to brief introductions in a class room with teacher Stephen Dorff and some over-sexed students; throw in some Native American Chumash Indians who always seem to be on a drug fuelled high then off to a house party with drink and drugs and a weekend road trip and you have some fairly good ingredients but what do you do with them? Sadly the movie doesn't have the right recipe. It's not really a stalker movie, characters are drugged up so much of the time there's no real rhyme or reason to the killings. Christian Slater is more like a slimmer homicidal Johnny Vegas complete with cloth monkey (seriously), one female character Squirrel is so unlikeable you will cheer when she departs. In summary, it's a complete mess.
The back cover blurb bears no relation to the movie and frankly takes the P. It's just about bearable but in no way is this "set to become a genre-busting classic"
There are no extras at all just the usual previews of other DVD's.

I totally agree with the previous reviews on this, the cover description has no relation to this film at all - and is completely misleading. Terrible performances - what was Mr C Slater thinking? The monkey fantasy creation is just so ridiculous it is beyond belief! This is not at all frightening and simply a film to stay clear of.

this was a total ripoff...dont waste your money!! reading the back it sounded really good...not at all i'm afraid!
i hate it when producers etc big up a film to make it sound better than it is...why not do a good one in the first place!!

With Christian Slater and Stephen Dorff, I thought this would be at worst an average slasher movie. How wrong I was, there is nothing redeemable about this film, even if it was being ironic it failed miserably. Everything about this film - the script, the acting, the 'special effects', including the talking toy monkey on a shotgun - was painful. It was the longest 98 minutes of my life! Do yourself a favour, choose a different film.

The plot is all over the place and the film doesn't make a great deal of sense. But it is enjoyable after all.
