TOP 1000 REVIEWERon 17 October 2013
I first bought a pair of these from Amazon about three years ago and was always really pleased with them. I bought two more pairs last week and I am delighted to say the overall quality and functionality of the trousers are undiminished. They are perfect for almost all outdoor pursuits. They are warm and comfortable and you can wear them all day with no discomfort. They have an amazing stretch - they fit really well and don't feel particularly tight but they stretch with you no matter what you are doing. You can climb a cliff or do a high kick no problem. You will never burst the seam of these trousers! They are not waterproof (you need to have waterproof over trousers in your pack) but they dry really quickly if they get wet and somehow they remain very comfortable even if they get soaking wet. They are lightweight so they are fine for Spring through to Autumn but you would need a winter lined pair for cold weather. They wash really well. You just put them on a standard 40 degree wash and then tumble dry for 5 minutes and they are ready to go. They are still quite small-sized so you do need to order a waist size up from your usual jeans size but go for your normal inside leg measurement. I am six feet two inches tall with a 34 waist and a 34 inside leg. The 36 inch waist long or 36 waist 34 inside leg sizes fit me perfect. You also need to watch what you pay. I bought two pairs from Amazon at 40% of the sale price at my local outdoor store. Even within the Amazon site I found considerable variations in price. My advice is to (a) buy from Amazon and (b) shop around within Amazon.

Update - I've been wearing these trousers for a year and a half now. I bought two pairs and have worn them more or less every day either to work or to go walking in the hills. Both pairs are as good as new with no sign of any wear and tear. I must have washed each pair 50 times or more and yet there has been no shrinkage or reduction in quality. They look just as good as the day they arrived. Wish I could say the same for myself!

Well made lightweight trousers bought mainly for dog-walking and they are ideal for that purpose. As many other reviewers have alluded to, they are unrealistically sized, and you have to order at least one size up from your actual measurement depending on how much stuff you want to get in the pockets - I'm a 38 waist and the 40 waist is a good fit but I'm not going to fit loads of extra kit in beyond hankie, keys and small wallet.
Having said that, they are very comfortable to wear, with plenty of 'give' in the fabric especially at the knees due to the elastane content, and quick drying too, which is always a bonus in Manchester.
I'm very pleased with them, and have ordered another pair already - one star off because of the sizing issue

Fit:
Bought the 32L to replace a 2yr old pair that were 32L. The latest pair fitted way too small so I went up to a size 34L and they’re about the same as my old 32L pair, perhaps with a little more room around the waist (say an inch) and maybe not quite as slim fitting. Overall the fit is good and the stretch fabric means movement & sitting etc is easy.

Design:
Personally I don’t like the constant pull around my waist of an elasticated waste. The latest pair has a little elastic either side which is OK but I’d prefer none. Pockets are zipped, although I don’t really need the leg pocket (adds a bit of bulk).

Fabric:
I choose the dark green olive although comparing to my old pair they are slightly darker so maybe they do fade a little with washing & wear. I wish more colours were available rather than just black and olive. Durability is good however the seat of my 2yr old pair is beginning to wear (i.e. getting a bit thin and floppy) as I use them for cycling and sailing (as well as walking & camping)...they do get a lot of use.

Useability:
Excellent as they give some windproofness and water resistance. They are lightweight and dry quickly if they do get wet.

Value:
Excellent although the price on Amazon does dance around a bit. There are two different selections for the same size on the pull down sizing menu so check them both out to make sure of the best price.

Overall:
My favorite pair of do it all outside trousers for the UK weather.

Well worth the money, however whatever your size, go at least one size up, I got 36 thinking they'd be massive and they are a perfect fit! (I'm 34), nice material, very comfy, perfect for walking or just dripping around in!!! Actually quite smart

Great product & price to match! My partner got these as he had this style before & was pleased with them. They seem to have updated this version of Craghopper trousers & they seem a bit smaller in the fitting. My partner had to size up one to his normal trouser/jean size & then they were fine.

Good fit, comfortable and look good but could have done with the long leg as regular was a bit short, so more detail on the length ie. 31inch or 33 inch. Was generally happy with purchase as extremely practical trousers for general wear and walking. Bought a second pair of long and length was perfect.

Nice trousers but cut is very tight, you need to order 1 or 2 sizes larger than your normal size.

I already have a pair of these trousers bought from a real shop and I wanted another as I was so impressed with them. I ordered a Long pair but was supplied with a Regular pair. I measured my current pair and the leg was 33 inches (which is the length for Long) but these measeured at 31 inches (which is Regular)

The little product tag attached with the plastic tie stated these were CMJ322L (i.e. the product code and LONG) but the size label sewn into the product indicated R(egular). There has clearly been an issue at the Craghoppers manufacturing and labelling stage where the incorrect label has been attached.

This was a bit disappointing as they are a great pair of trousers so I have returned them today.

(Interestingly, I ordered another pair of Long from another online supplier and exactly the same thing occurred - they will be going back on Monday)

Notwithstanding the size issues I'm having with this product, they are a great pair of trousers and dry very quickly when rained on and are very comfortable.

These are extremely stretchy in all areas. Zipped waist pockets are actually very deep. Long length is just that which is great.

Theyre not quite deep black, more of a dark grey, so may not be suitable for work purposes.

Beware; fit/cut of these is more like the Bear Grylls survivor range than standard kiwis- they are quite tight, slim fitting. You definately need to order up a waist size.

All in all a great pair of trousers that are so flexible you can do head height martial arts kicks with no pulling on any area.

Recommended.

I read the reviews for buying bigger and did ponder this before ordering, then relented and bought my normal size of 36 short and they fitted perfectly, just fit me like a pair of jeans i wear rather than looking like my normal baggy walking trousers, so in my own experience i did not need to upsize unless i wanted the baggy look. Very good pair of trousers which do not hang below my walking shoe when worn instead of a boot and rip themselves apart. Highly recommended, i bought another pair as soon as my first arrived and fit was confirmed.
