Wow. I've read all of the James Acton series of books and this one is every bit as good. What I liked about this book is how J. Robert Kennedy strikes just the right balance between pulse racing action and believable scenarios. If you have read and liked the Ben Hope series of books you will love this one.

Having read all the James Acton and Detective Shakespeare books to date and enjoyed every one I was slightly sceptical that a new series of books featuring a spy who had links to Acton would possibly not live up to expectations and be too similar. However, the only similarity was the fast paced, intelligent storyline and non stop action. I have already signed up for notifications so I don't miss the second Dylan Kane book once it comes out!

In my opinion you can't go wrong with J. Robert Kennedy. As always, this story is a well paced read that I found hard to put down. The characters are believable. The plot is well constructed and, as always with this author, is well researched and full of authenticity. I've now read all his books and am already having withdrawal symptoms. Robert, please hurry up and write another.

A great read for Easter. Glad I signed up at the back of the last book for email notifications otherwise I might have missed this! It came out overnight and I had the book early this morning and finished this evening. Couldn't put it down. Kennedy is my favorite right now because of the Acton series and this new spy series is fantastic. Like his other thrillers it is fast paced and action filled. I only wish he could write faster.

Like people before me I was glad I had singed up for notification about his new books at the end of the James Acton series or I would have missed this one. Will look forward to the next. Have enjoyed all James Acton and Zander Varga (book 1) and look forward to many more to come.

A fast moving tale about some corrupt government officials, and the havoc they have unleashed upon us. Well conceived and written, with many twists and turns. I enjoyed this work!

I really enjoyed the multilayered well told story.
I'm now hooked and already on book 2.
Intense but with warmth. A recommended read.

I understand that in order to keep the reader up to speed with the action that only takes a couple of days in real time the sentences should be short, but some descripters would allow you to come up for air. However I do not wished to be rushed through a book. The story is feasible but somehow scant and it leans heavily on its formulaic contentt to quickly draw to a close.

This book is highly rated on both the UK and US sites, so I go out on a limb here in not being as positive as others.

Dylan Kane is a CIA Agent who has to go solo to locate some scientists presumed to have been kidnapped or murdered. They were working on a project which could have changed the world and the government feared that sensitive information may have ended up in the wrong hands.

Kane is sort of likeable, but none of the personalities in the novel are really well-developed. There is nothing special about the writing either, although the tension levels towards the end do make things interesting. I won't give away any spoilers, but you really do have to stretch the imagination to enjoy the novel. At various times, I didn't know whether I was watching a Bruce Willis movie or Superman in action.

The bad guys are virtually nameless and faceless and with only a vague motive, so there's not a great deal of complexity in the plot either.

Kennedy also gets some political statements in. There is nothing offensive in what he has to say, but one wonders why he felt the need to include the comments at what seemed to be irrelevant points.

There were no typos to speak of in the Kindle version, but some better punctuation editing would have improved the narrative.

In summary, not my cup of tea and I think there are more credible books carrying similar plot lines out there. Action-seekers will probably enjoy this more than I did.
