This is a good concise guide aimed at people cycle-touring Europe, most particularly Germany, Switzerland,France, Belgium and Holland. The writers tour a lot, and have lived in Germany for years. There are useful gems that you perhaps wouldn't have guessed at, e.g. The law in Germany that means that cyclists can be breathalysed, and that a conviction for cycling over the limit can affect their driving licence.
The fact that in Germany the 'village camp site' may actually be 6 km and 1,000 vertical feet outside the village.
The incredible cycle network system in Holland.
There are no camping tips in this book, as the authors always stay in b&b, hostels or hotels. A short, punchy, concise read, especially for those cycling Europe for the first time, or for the first time in years.
The authors also touch on equipment and safety.
I'd have given 4 stars if it covered cycle-camping abroad as well.

So good to find a book for ordinary cyclists. I have read many cycle-tour books and many start by saying how unfit the author is then they cycle 100 miles (often wearing lycra). Ordinary people and those with young children would be put off. This book and others by them (Neil) and people like Edward Enfield show that you don't have to cycle great distances or up mountains to have lots of fun.

This is one of my 'go to' books for touring . The active links in the e version are brilliant and have used them endlessly . Can't give it enough stars . I can read the book like a reference book, picking out various chapters that I need, with added advantage of the e version book marking it. Not sure if you intended it to be like this but it works.

We are cycle tourists and found this bike full of useful practical advice ahead of a ride through Germany. Enough information to be useful without so much that all the adventure is taken away.
