I wish people would stop trying to decypher and pick apart every song and album.
They are a band you can not and should not try to pidgeon hole and that is the point!!!!
They are not sheep who follow the shepherds bell and that is a hell of an admiralable quality.
You either get it or you don't simple as that!!
With every album, song, music film and live performance it's always been about the journey and where it takes you

THIS ALBUM IS QUALITY FOR A NEW JOURNEY

well was looking forward to this album but must say its not one of there best! seems just a mish mash of melodies strung together and not the type of album you expect from this band. yes there are some good tracks but theres also some poorer ones that personally you wouldn't expect to find even on a b side. to many filler tracks that just mean and do nothing at all! if you brought the brilliant if over produced this is war well do not expect this to be as much fun! worth buying but after a week your probably find the albums out of you car and in your cd rack and maybe a few songs will make it onto your ipod at best.

After the new direction taken with the debut single "Up in the Air" I was interested to see how the full album followed suit in comparison. Sadly Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams the fourth studio Album from 30 Seconds to Mars is a real mixed bag and a huge disappointment that suffers not only from a identity crisis but also feels like a band that doesn't know what they want or where they want to take their sound.

The album starts off in very familiar fashion, an intro track in the shape of "Birth" leads into the very familiar "Conquistador", and as soon as track three hits, the album's debut single "Up in the Air" it had me thinking this could be another 30STM masterclass. Sadly this is where the problems begin and the album begins to fall away, from track three on-wards all of the energy that you associate with 30 Seconds to Mars is gone and rarely returns, and in its place is a more somber, mellow effort that provides an outlook into a new direction and vision from the band. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though as tracks such as "Bright Lights" "Do or Die" and "Northern Lights" really stand out and these alongside a few more tracks from the 30STM of old would have provided a truly fantastic follow up too This is War.

Sadly we are presented with far too few standout tracks, and the album begins to drift and is then finished before you know it. One example of this is the fact there are two instrumentals within the track list, "Pyres of Varanasi", "Convergance" and then "Depuis le Debut" which provides very little in closure to the album and is practically another instrumental, all of these tracks feel like wasted opportunities and filler material.

It feels like 30STM knew which way they wanted to go with their new sound, and if they had wrapped this in between more of what we know and love from the band this could have been another classic from them. Sadly as I mentioned above there are too few of these tracks which provide highs that we associate with the band and this has left me very disappointed with their latest effort.

That aside it has took me a while but the new sound and the album has grown on me, but it doesn't hide the fact that I am still very disappointed by Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams and this is by far the poorest effort from the band to date.

A good, yet flawed effort.

I have thoroughly enjoyed 30 Seconds To Mars music since the first album was released, I have seen them three times and was looking forward to this new album. This Is War was a change to their music like the added vocals of loyal fans which was a good addition to the album. Their sound had changed but not for bad, but instead it was a good change almost modernizing it. However I must say that I am disappointed in this album, I understand that bands need to go through change, Iron Maiden for instance and also Metallica. But a change this vast is not needed and somewhat almost made the band a lost cause. It has reused the added vocals of the fans which was good originally but for it to be reused, in my opinion was not a good choice. The change of sound to a more modern one is now too modern and is perhaps shifting to a more mainstream side which is not what 30 Seconds To Mars once was. Now I am not saying that they are lost forever, they will bring in new fans but for fans who love the "good old days", they will find themselves in foreign territory. Only a couple of songs contain the roots of 30 STM but not entirely. Change is frightening to most bands and it must happen, some sell out like Metallica and some may benefit like Iron Maiden did with "Brave New World" but for me, 30 Seconds To Mars has become too modern and so receive low interest from me until they can bring up their roots.

I had such high hopes following their last album This Is War (probably my favourite ever album) for this but even after listening to the album once I was not disappointed in any way!

Unlike some "true fans" I started out on This Is War and loved it. I actually bought the previous two ablums but didn't really enjoy them other than the odd track.

This album is much like This Is War, but even bigger, more theatrical, and well epic!

I would say skip to, or skip past etc but the whole album is great (I've only listened a couple of times).

Definitely best played LOUD!! :)

This new release from Thirty Seconds To Mars is a step in a new direction. It's more fluid and ambient than their other albums. I find there is something for every fan within the album. Conquistador and The Race for the rock inclined, UITA and Pyres Of Varanasi with heavy dance tones, Bright Lights & City Of Angels have a sublime feel.
It's big, crazy, dark yet soft and delicate at times. Jared's song writing abilities have grown and matured. He says this is his best work to date...he is telling you the truth.
If you don't like it, go listen to their previous work but if you love their new album..let it take you on a journey, you won't look back.

I love the album, keep Up in the air on loop. Their music always brings me into a different higher spiritual level. I don't have a better way to describe the experience.

I just love it, amazing music, lovely to listen it! Even tough they change their music on every album it's still very enjoyable.
