4.0 out of 5 stars Aussie progressive metal, 30 Mar 2012

Australia has sent a fair bit of decent metal our way in recent times and this is yet another shining example that deserves much wider exposure.

This progressive-metal 5-piece from Melbourne deliver a 6-track EP featuring an intoxating combination of sweeping, off-kilter melodies, jarring, cortex-bothering djent riffs and sleek synth electronics that scud across the background adding a vital layer of depth. The vocals are mostly clean, but not saccharine, with rarer authentic gutterals lending tracks such as "Act III" additional gravitas.

In the vein of Tool, Meshuggah, Sikth, Devil Sold his Soul and countrymates Karnivool this EP is packed with potential and enough well executed, fresh ideas for Circles to hopefully carve their own niche in the metal market.

This is in mine and many other's one of the true forerunner's in the new Djent genre and without doubt along with the like's of Hacktivist and neosis are breaking massive ground , i can not reccomend this enough to anyone seeking something outside of the turgid repetition of today's music industry
