The author builds up the dystopian world well enough to provide a decent backdrop, the connection between the two male leads is also carefully, sensitively developed. However the the plot turns into more of a Mad Max style story, secondary characters are fleshed out, and the relationship between the leads becomes an afterthought, nothing more than attraction and care, no love or romance. The end was 'meh' and hugely disappointing free for all hippie lovin was not what I expected and given what the characters had been through, it was particularly weak. Not worth the price tag.
