At first glance it's the same cliche stuff that other auto biographies write - person has sad life, gets saved or learns life's hard truths and has happy ending, read similar type stuff of girls that came from the same world she did so although it didn't stand out for me, still had the urge to want to know what she went through, touching poem at the end that gave it the...

1.0 out of 5 stars So boring!!!
Sorry i tried so hard to like this book, but my life and so many others are more interesting than this girls, i think she is delusional. She really believes that she has had an interesting life!! She should never of had children for a start. very selfish, and thinks very highly of herself. So so boring, only finished it to see if anything interesting does happen in her...

She sounds the most selfish woman in the world. Not a single apology, everything everybody else's fault... a line towards the end of the book reads 'my children didn't understand what I have been through'. There are many victims in this book, but she isn't one of them.

Upon reading this story, it struck me as the author was living the life she led simply the way she wanted to with no little thought to anyone else except herself. But constantly blaming others. Mother, friends , punters, boyfriends, children, poverty, she could of easily had a normal happy life, but wanted money over family,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sad.

This book could have been fantastic, but it wasn't. For me it lacked real emotion which sounds coldk considering what the writer has been through

This book is amazing, it's so true and heart wrenching, makes you realise how tough some people lives are, makes you realise you shouldn't judge someone you see for the things they do, you don't know their story...........

5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply moved, 16 July 2013
"The First Floor" shows the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. I admired the succinct, unembelished style, and was impressed by the way the author didn't try to gloss over, or apologise for, those elements of her life story that were less palatable. Ultimately, it is a revealing and very sincere exposure of the way that people can be so ruthlessly exploited for other people's selfish gratification.

Good reading difficult to put the book down once I got into the story! Highly recommended and gives an insight into another persons life and the changes and reasons for changes made over the years!

I saw a article in a Christian magazine so expected this to be centred in God...it's not. It's a life story of a broken woman who had three children in amongst a chaotic life. It ends with her getting what she wanted....to write her life story...But no mention of what happens to her poor children. Other than her sister calls social services. A few me tions of praying doesn't make this a Christian story. Disappointing
