5.0 out of 5 stars Another Gill Special
A very compelling read, with a typical Gill mixture of Geography, Historical Fiction and Detective Fiction, and this time with a strong financial aspect. In other words, a very multi-dimensional novel, and with plenty of sex and gore for those who like that sort of thing, though this reviewer tends to avert his eyes, metaphorically!

3.0 out of 5 stars No city in the City of Gold
The "City of Gold" is El Dorado but it doesn't actually appear in the story.
The story is about a search for the map that shows the way to the city. There's interesting back story about Sir Walter Raleigh, whose expedition did reach it but didn't enter, and the fate of the map through the centuries since as it passes throught the hands of various historical...

The mixture of the present day and the historical story made this an exciting read from start to finish. Full of action, I found it easy to read and difficult to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars City of Gold 24 carat winner, 14 Aug 2013
This review is from: City of Gold (Paperback)
City of Gold is a compulsive and intriguing thriller - a uniquely imaginative must-read. This astonishingly original work of fiction shows once again why Anton Gill is one of the most incisive writers in this genre. Powerfully written and unpredictable, the book shows Gill at his scintillating best.
City of Gold is a novel that keeps coming at the reader in unpredictable gusts, rolling from the surprise to ferocity, from enigma to revelation. Unarguably one of the best works from a master of his craft.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great summer read!, 4 Aug 2013
This review is from: City of Gold (Paperback)
If you're looking for a page-turner full of fascinating historical detail, great characters and a compelling story, then this is the book for you. This is a worthy follow up to the Sacred Scroll, but you don't need to have read the first one to enjoy it. A great summer read, highly recommended!
