Took delivery this morning and straight out of the box their top quality is apparent. Beautifully made and crafted in cedar wood. The girth can be adjusted by the use of a side screw - simply turn the screw to give a wider or narrower fit. However, you won't find any guide to tell you what size to purchase if, like me, you're a half-size. I chose to go down rather than up a size. Glad I did. There's more than enough tension in the double spring to expand to my half-size. I particularly like the finger-grip design of the heel section which allows you to man-handle the shoe trees in and out of the shoes. I own other shoe trees with ring pulls and brass pull knobs but these Seeadlers seem more robust to use. I can't imagine them coming apart as easily as some of my others have in the past. At this price (twenty-three quid, free Amazon delivery) they're a bargain. They keep your expensive shoes looking good, too.

Bought these for a pair of expensive Church's shoes and they help keep the shape of the shoe and reduces creases. Will buy another pair but next ones I order will be my shoe size. I ordered a half size smaller because of other peoples reviews saying they were too small.

I like these shoes trees. That feels like an odd phrase to type, but it is true. However as other reviewers will have pointed out, getting the size right is important.

They've recently arrived so I've no idea of their robustness etc, but they look very well constructed and the smell of the fresh wood is wonderful.

Size matters. I've got six pairs of good shoes and when buying a pair of Oliver Sweeney brogues, received a complimentary set of shoes trees with the shoes (wonderful shop in Covent Garden). It turns out that they retail for £49; so when I was looking for alternatives, chose these (and a pair of Langer & Messmer as well).

When they first arrived I was pretty gutted. I got them inside the other Oliver Sweeney shoes (size 8), but only got them back out with lots of effort (and swearing). The same was true for the Langer & Messmer. Feeling really annoyed, I was getting ready to send them back, when I decided to try them in a pair of Boss Shoes (size 42). They fit perfectly.

I ordered a pair of size 7.5 of these, and they fit the Oliver Sweeney's perfectly.

I have been extremely impressed by both Seeadler's shoe trees and their customer service. The trees have a very high quality feel and finish. The moving parts, such as the spring loaded heel and toe, feel strong and very well made. The Canadian Red Cedar has a strong but not overpowering smell which helps ensure your shoes smell fresh and is the major benefit of Cedar over the cheaper Beech versions. The quality of these shoe trees rivals those that you can purchase from shoemakers for prices between £40 and £80. The price is also very reasonable. The cheapest fully functional (double sprung heel, sprung toe) shoe trees I found were on eBay for around £17 and were of a far lower quality. These were only £5 more expensive and the quality seems far superior, so that looks to be £5 very well spent. Seeadler were also brilliant in arranging for a set of size 9 trees (which were out of stock) to be sent over to me. They are a small business and are exceptionally polite and helpful to customers. I will be purchasing more shoe trees from them in future and will be recommending their products to my family and friends.

Not only were these too large, but they are the wrong shape and do not fit into ANY of my shoes despite me buying the smaller size. The front end is just too tall and you can see this when compared to other shoe trees. They also have an excessive amount of cedar oil applied to them which could soak into your shoes and ruin them. Natural cedar does not need extra cedar oil.

Echoing previous reviews, these trees are not perfect but are pretty good. I bought 3 sizes (6, 6.5 and 7) for my size UK7/EU41 shoes but ended up returning the size 7 shoe trees as they were too large. The 6.5 fits slightly tightly, but the 6 seems a bit loose.

I bought a size 10UK and it barely fit my shoe. It was almost fit to burst and takes me a while every morning to get it out. Also the handle is unreliable, I wish they made a knob on the end side so you can pull it out easily. Fine, but not great.

I bought one to try it out for my many Jeffrey Wests (they live forever and collect in a way that would make Imelda Marcos blush), at a quarter what Jeffrey West charge for a shoe tree, I thought I'd give it a go.

I read the previous comments and I chose slightly smaller than I needed (a 45 for my various size 11 to 11.5's) and it did the job perfectly. So much so that I bought half a dozen of them and even used them instead of the solo jeffrey west shoe tree I already have (they have a better push on the bridge) . One minor issue that was easily remedied, is that I've had to sand off the side lip on the moveable front quarter to stop it catching the leather on it's way out of the shoe, but other than that I can recommend them.

These are fantastic and are the second pair I've bought from this seller. If you have a good quality pair of shoes that you want to keep in good condition - crease free and smelling great - when your not wearing them, then I would definitely recommend these! The do come up a wee bit bigger than the size shown, eg if you want a 9 order an 8. I initially made this mistake but they were returned and replaced really quickly - no problems. The ceder wood smell is amazing and keeps the shoes smelling fresh and the price is incredible. Also, the delivery is rapid! I ordered mine during the holiday period, 29th December and received them on the 31st! All in all, I highly recommend these if you are looking for good quality shoe trees.

I bought these for my crocket and Jones connaughts size uk9. I bought the uk8s having read some other reviews. However they do not fit well into the shoe at all. The leather was stretching out horribly and I think if I'd continued to use them I'd have warped my shoes. I have now bought some Crockett and Jones shoe trees which fit perfectly. The connaughts are a totally classic size and style and my feet are a regular shape so I can only imagine that this would be a problem for many dress shoes. I also see the spring on the front of the shoe as a disadvantage as it puts unnecessary pressure on the front of the shoe. The one good thing is that these shoe trees smell delicious!
