4.0 out of 5 stars Just as incredible as the plays., 9 Oct 2011
Much like his plays, Samuel Beckett's poetry can leave one feeling both inspired and confused, with erratic pacing and bizarre, yet weirdly beautiful imagery that always keeps the reader thinking. Some poems are given a few footnotes explaining the meaning of his more enigmatic phrases.
However it would have been nice for us non-French-speakers to have translations for all his poems in French. The few translations are ones that Beckett did himself, but it would have helped if the editor could at least have added something for those he didn't.

Overall a wonderful selection of poetry, but some editorial decisions raise more questions that they answer.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Books like this you keep forever. The cover is sublime and quirky and even how the book is physically put together is beautiful. The poems are, obviously, a great selection of his work.
