2.0 out of 5 stars Great looks, but distorted sound
This must be one of the best looking bluetooth speakers out there - and one of the priciest, which is why I was expecting a whole lot more from this speaker than what it delivers.

First the positives: it's compact, light and the battery lasts for ages - I think it's 7-8 hours, maybe a bit longer - before needing to be recharged. There is a discreet battery...

Works in every room in my flat, and patio..Can also be used with any other bluetooth device..Can be connected by cable to any other device. Same supurb sound...Battery lasts for 12 hours before recharge, which works best after 3 hour charge..Expensive, but worth the money when you consider the difference to a £40 to £50 pound model (of which i now have 3) This model is superior to any other model at a similar or higher price....

Very easy to set up - charges quickly - nice and neat and easy to move around the house. Bluetooth range is really good - streams well from a device downstairs to the speaker upstairs. Wouldn't say sound quality is quite on a par with Bose version but at £140 less, can't argue with that.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great looks, but distorted sound, 13 Feb 2014
This must be one of the best looking bluetooth speakers out there - and one of the priciest, which is why I was expecting a whole lot more from this speaker than what it delivers.

First the positives: it's compact, light and the battery lasts for ages - I think it's 7-8 hours, maybe a bit longer - before needing to be recharged. There is a discreet battery light that blinks orange and then red when when it's time for a recharge, which is rather convenient. It's great for carrying around the house. The wireless range is impressive. Sometimes I forget that I'm playing music through my phone and walk into the next room with the phone in my pocket, and the music carries on playing without a break in the sound.

But the sound quality is really not that great. There is a button to increase/improve the bass output, but that really does nothing much at all. The sound is generally OK with a nice dynamic range if you're listening with the speaker next to you and not very loud, but turn up the volume to listen from across the room, and distortion starts creeping in. I listen to a lot of classical music and it has become virtually impossible to listen to any piano music and opera (particularly soprano voices) due to the irritating and music-ruining distortion from this speaker. I was listening to Chopin preludes recently and the distortion was so terribly irritating that I had to switch it off.

When I first noticed the distortion problem, I thought it was the particular music recording I was listening to, but on other sound systems or listening on headphones, there is no distortion whatsoever. Then I thought it might be the bass boost button on the side of the speaker, but switching that off makes no difference. Then I tried placing the speaker on a surface with a thick table cloth, thinking that maybe the stand was vibrating, but that made no difference and the distortion continued. I have tried various other things, but still always get distortion on certain frequencies. It's not a constant problem - and wouldn't be noticeable in music with lower frequencies - but for my purposes it just isn't good enough (especially given the premium pricing!).

It's all very, very disappointing and I wish I could exchange this speaker for something better, but I left it too late to return it to the store.

UPDATE: Out of frustration I removed the back panel (it pops off quite easily without having to unscrew anything), thinking that it might be that panel that is causing the vibration, but the vibration still occurs even without the back panel attached, so it's something else in the inner workings.
