Speaker problem and bad supplier after sales service
on 5 December 2013
Quite disgracefully, Samsung don't tell you, in their on line product literature, that the dome speakers are free standing and have no rear fitments suitable for wall mounting brackets ( they have advised this to me by email ). And this is despite of their UK web site stating "Hi, Please contact our sales team on 0330 726 7467 who will be more than happy to help you with this query" in response to the same question posed by someone else.
I would have bought a different model had I known that in advance since I wanted to wall mount the rear speakers.
My front left speaker had a rattle in it when I took delivery and I managed to shake a 15mm long piece of broken plastic ( a hollow tube in the shape of a Torx screwdriver bit ) out of an open well in the rear. Having then sent a photo of it along with a message to Samsung UK, I'm currently trying to find out whether it is from inside my speaker or a foreign object that fell in during assembly / manufacture since I don't want to be put to the expense, inconvenience and uncertainty of resolution ( because of my bad experience of the supplier's after sales service ) involved in sending the system back to Germany for a refund or replacement.
Despite having emailed the on-line supplier ( Alternate gmbh / Alternate.co.uk ) several times over the past few days, they haven't replied and I certainly won't be using them again.
