4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value but not overly robust, 5 Sept. 2013
This review is from: Vango Contour 50+10S Rucksack - Surf Blue (Misc.)
Bought the Vango Contour 50+10s for our daughter's gap year travels. Good value for what it is. She has travelled from Nairobi to Cape Town overland using it. It survived undamaged. It has since been to Nicaragua, Peru and Bolivia. En route to Lima from Miami the top, small hand grip was torn off. During trekking in Bolivia and Peru, one of the small(but very important) adjusting straps started to tear away at the shoulder, but it survived sufficiently intact to make it to Machu Pichu and back, plus 2 other treks and a lot of travelling by a variety of different means of transport. What destroyed it finally was our daughter's failure to cling wrap it at Lima airport before it got into the clutches of US baggage handlers at Dallas, Fort Worth Airport, who ripped off one of the main carrying straps. Best things about it: inexpensive, light enough for a woman to carry pretty comfortably when full and not so large that it can ever be seriously overloaded. Fits well and is easily adjustable. However, not extremely robust, but given the price, good value provided you don't expect it to last for ever or to survive extremely rough handling. Personally, I would prefer something slightly tougher, to be on the safe side.
