For the first few hours of playing this game, I really loved it.
It was clear that there wasn't going to be much depth to the story, and it soon became clear that there were no MAJOR end-of-level challenges. That was OK. It just made it a great game for a bit of brainless, no pressure shoot-em-up fun.
Unfortunately it got old rather quickly. By a fairly early stage in the game, you've met most of the difficult enemy types, and after that the game just tries to ramp up difficulty for the end-of-level battles by hitting you with two or more of them instead of one.
You could nearly count the range of weapons available on your fingers, and no REAL weapon upgrades are available, so after a while every battle starts to feel a bit 'samey'. You can 'jump' to make any of your four-person team the active character and use their unique weapon, but... well, meh.
It's all very professionally done, with super graphics, excellent effects, and an OK story... though (NO SPOILERS) for me the story all ended very abruptly and to say the least I didn't think it was a satisfying finish. It almost felt as if the developers had said, "Ok, it's long enough already. Let's just stop it there..."
Bottom line. It's OK, but JUST OK. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity to come up with something special, to be honest.
