i chose the smaller bag to carry my laptop, lunch and various leads/adapters to work. For this task, the bag works perfectly and has been better than several so called "laptop" bags I have owned before. The strap is comfortable, and the multiple of pockets makes it easy to stash keys, loose change, membership cards etc. The bag does not look particularly sleek because of the side pockets close to the strap, but those pockets come in useful for bottles of water, small brollies etc. I particularly like the way that I can reach under the flap to access the front pockets. As another reviewer pointed out, the zip for the main compartment is a bit awkward and I leave it undone most of the time. So far nothing has dropped out. The lined laptop compartment is neat and seems to protect the computer well. I also found the bag to be a great travel bag. I spent several days as a tourist, carrying my m4/3 camera, a couple of lenses, water bottle, guide book and iPad, snacks. The bag was comfortable to carry around and I liked the fact that I could unzip the back pocket to allow me to put it through the handle of my roller case at the airport. I only have two minor reservations about the bag. It is pricier than other laptop/courier bags, but it is well made and has an unusual design. Another minus point is that it is difficult to store any A4 sized documents/notebooks easily in the bag. They don't fit in the main compartment and can get a bit crumpled in the back pocket (exposed). You might want to get a different sort of bag if carry around a lot of these types of documents.

This is great product. Robust, practical and excellent quality. I would disagree with previous reviews that said it's too small - I intentionally bought this one for its compact but adequate size as I don't want a massive bag on my shoulder! If you want to lug lever arch files around as well as your laptop/tablet, then this isn't the one for you (although there is a larger size available).

There are plenty of zippable pockets to organise and keep separate all the bits and pieces we all tend to carry around and and the internal main section also has a sleeve, which is just the right size to slip an iPad into and keep that protected. There's even two upright sections on the sides, which I use for a water bottle and my laptop power supply - perfect!

The shoulder strap is comfortable and a cleverly designed fixing stops that from getting twisted. The separate padded section accessible from the side for your laptop is a stroke of genius - as long as you remember to close it after you've slipped your laptop in!

So with such a glowing review, why haven't I followed so many other reviews with the full five stars you may ask? Well, there are two negatives from my perspective:

1. The zip for the main section is awkward to use. Although it provides great access to the main section by enabling a lower view and easier access to the contents, the result is a zip that is difficult to acess and use fully. This has meant that unless it's pouring with rain, I almost always leave the zip undone and let the main flap cover the inside. Which leads me to.....

2. The fittings on the main flap (2) are an unusual clip in and out design. They're fine once you work out how they operate, but are really small and plastic, making them less robust than the rest of this excellent bag.

If the plastic clips are upgraded and the zip redisgned slightly, it would definitely get 5 stars from me!

That said, I'm still delighted I found this and I still think it's better than anything else I've managed to find on the market, so don't be put off by these two minor criticisms!

What a great laptop bag, bought to replace a Targus rucksack.

Too me a few a minutes to work out that the laptop goe into its own fully cushioned pocket via a vertical zip on one side of the bag - which makes redundant the laptop sleeve I bought to go with this.

With a range of pockets to accommodate all the necessary laptop accessories - and a tablet in a dedicated inner pocket - there's not much more that I can say.

My laptop is a Toshiba R830 13" which fits in the dedicated pocket (snugly, but just fine).

This bag looks every bit as good (and as rugged) 'in the flesh' as in the pictures.

Can't fault it.

Actually, it's probably the only laptop bag I ever bought. I've used OEM and stock LT bags for 20 years. This is the first time I have ever spent time researching what I might be using instead.

I am very pleased with this bag. I use it for a 12" Thinkpad which fits perfectly.

The side entry is genius leaving the main bag empty. Loads of space in a small bag.

Very comfortable and highly recommended.

I really like this bag but as some other reviews have said this bag the main compartment is a bit on the small side. It's ideal for carrying all your techie equipment and leads etc but if you want to add a reasonably sized packed lunch, sunglasses and other bits you'll find it a bit restricting. Overall I really do like and just have to remember what I am doing and where I am going and then it's perfect.

Simply a brilliant work/general bag. Why "brilliant" - it is rare to find a messenger style bag (opposed to a rucksack) that can handle a laptop well, with a separate compartment and a proper carrying handle, as well as a general compartment for a camera, books etc. This means I can walk into work meetings using it as a professional satchel or carry laptop and camera around as a photographer.
It is also very well made and thought out, with a waist strap for cycling. Best combined work and own time bag I have found to date. Well done STM.
(and "no" I don't work for STM or have any connection )

Very well made and thought out bag that is very comfortable carry. It has pockets for all those laptop / tablet cables and tons of free space. The best laptop messenger bag that I have tried, and it have tried many....being a man with a serious business luggage acquisition problem / fetish.

Fantastic bag at a great price. Fits my 13 inch laptop, iPad, water bottle, umberella, files and super pockets for all my bits and bobs. Smart enough to use with work wear and casual enough to use at weekends. Well made bag.
