I prefer this app to the CatchupTV one. You'll see why.

Used horizontal the Kindle Fire gives you three columns of channel programs (Now and Following).

There are three screenfuls to roll upwards to view them all though the program titles are small. (only one column in view if you have the screen portrait).

Touch the program title or channel icon and you get full screen TV.

OR - A LONG TOUCH on the channel icon and you get a small screen within the screen - you can still move the columns of programs while the picture carries on with the chosen channel.

Click on the home symbol and you can choose a game to play and still see the tv screen within your 7" Kindle Fire screen. A light sliding touch on the tv picture enables you to move it away from the playing area depending on the game you are playing.

For instance I played Boggle - the game letters on the right while the TV picture showed on top left.

The small screen is about 2.5" x 1.5" the picture is really clear just small.

I ONLY FOUND THIS OUT BY ACCIDENT.

Edit = A Kindle user on the Forum tried this out and discovered that if he tapped on the small screen plus and minus buttons appeared in corners so you could shrink the picture even more or enlarge it to fit a proportion of your screen - such as over a corner of a spread sheet etc.

I just wish they'd put the Freeview numbers next to each channel not just the names.

Just one tip. Choose your volume before you touch the app. icon.

I can't believe how good the pictures look

More information.

If you are viewing full screen -

One touch on bottom of screen brings up a translucent rolling list of channels across the screen with a description of the channel still showing above and through the translucent screen of channels to the left and details of next program to the right.

If you touch a channel icon on the rolling list the details of the programs now and following on that channel are shown. All the while you are still viewing your original channel and listening to its uninterrupted sound.

A second tap on the translucent screen away from the icons gives you more translucent screen and less of your clear picture and more text detail on each program but you lose a bit more of clear screen. A tap on the screen where the clear picture is rolls the translucent list down out of view.

You have to go back to menu and touch the back arrow to bring up the columns of channels again to change channel.

An excellent app.

a bad point - occasionally a change of channel gives you silence for a few seconds but it soon catches up.

Just remember to choose your volume level before touching the app icon.

What a fabulous app for £2.

ps. my Kindle Fire is the basic 7" and the chap on the forum has a Kindle Fire HD.

As this app does not require Adobe Flash to facilitate streaming, it makes accessible the channels available on Freeview to UK-based TV users, especially those such as myself, using the Kindle Fire HD (who would have previously found this impossible, if my personal experiences are anything to go by, using alternative means).

From my viewpoint the streams generally work well, although I have found occasional variability due to broadband traffic issues, rather than as a consequence of any apparent weakness in the app. In fact there is a provision within the menu to modify the stream quality in relation to differing circumstances. The default is "auto select stream quality," but this can be changed to highest quality or lowest quality, in order to tweak the settings, if required.

The version I have downloaded is 2.300 with an updated audio streaming player and improved layout for tablets according to the documentation within the app. I cannot personally vouch for the extent to which this version has improved when compared with earlier versions, as I am unfamiliar with them, but this particular version seems to be serving my purposes well.

The menu option to hide or show the different channels is a useful means of customizing the channel list to the user's specific requirements.

So far the app seems to represent good value for money. The Electronic Programme Guide, which can be updated via wifi at regular intervals, is an additional bonus, both as a reference tool and as a means of linking directly to specific programme streams.

This is my all time favourite app! It is better than my large screen TV by a long way. It has +1 CHANNELS galore!!! even for BBC channels! I am thrilled with its performance as it runs perfectly, no breaking up or sticking, and I think the developers SkyNetSoftware deserve an award of the highest magnitude!
If like me you were formerly with CATCHUP TV and lost all of the +1 channels, then this app knocks that one into a cocked hat...it is fantastic...but does live tv, not catch up tv. That is the only way it could move forward, but it's put a smile back on my face, and made me feel so happy again! The huge no. of +1 channels means you barely miss a prof anyway, so I haven't really missed anything since getting it.
Try it yourself. Best £2 you'll ever spend, and an update for a live play/pause button + extra channels and more is only £1 if you want it...an absolute bargain! I LOVE this app! Thank you so much SkyNetSoftware. xxx MAID MARION.
