October, 2002, in Afghanistan, 'Spider' Shepherd and experienced colleagues are faced with a wet-nosed Captain Todd with a Sandhurst background and no combat experience who is foxed by a Taliban leader Ahmed Khan into a conspiracy. The plot initiated by Todd is disastrous with multiple deaths. The 'boss', Major Ganam realises the pros are the only ones to uncover the shambles. Leave it to Spider and his experienced colleagues. Humour, helicopters and jets are involved in the action. This is not without casualties but as a short story is excellent. Stephen Leather cuts it short but that is what to be expected from a fast narrative full of action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Author, 15 Dec. 2013

Stephen Leather is an outstanding author. His Spider shepherd series is simply brilliant, insightful and addictive. Whilst some of his other material appears to be based around the Spider Shepherd character - they are all still as addictive and interesting. Highly recommend any books by this author.
