I heard the track "O Mio Babino Caro" on Classic FM and was blown away by it. Because it is instrumental it seems to make a bit more of part of the melody that is only sung once in the original. It starts fairly simply then quickly builds into a fabulous goose-bump-inducing full sound. The first time you hear it, it just lifts you and makes you soar. I haven't played the rest of the album very much so far, but it is all good stuff. Leon's transcriptions are brilliant and Ophelie Gaillard's performance is stunning. If you like Cello music (or Puccini) then I recommend this CD.

Like previous reviewers, I bought this CD after hearing O mio babbino caro played on Classic FM. I'm not usually a fan of the cello but I love this CD and think I will be converted. The cello that Ophelie Gaillard plays has a very light but mellow sound and I think that the more I listen to this CD the more I shall like it. I would recommend it, even to those (like me) who previously didn't like the sound of the cello. All the tracks are very good, although I particularly like tracks 5 and 6, both Italian opera interpretations.

This new album is just beautiful. No other word for it. Fantastic 'tunes' (sorry music snobs!) but without the screeching divas. Radio 3 listeners will probably hate it - for not being 'authentic' - but Classic FM'ers will adore it.
Buy it and get some real tranquility in this mad world.
