5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a reading
I must admit one of the better police/crime type books I have read in a while. A strong storyline that flows well and a gripping start are two points that really stood out for me. As well as the crime element there is also a physiological element and keeps it from being just another murder mystery. Well worth reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for the feint hearted
The basic storyline was good. However the lengthy, narratives on paedophilia were excessive, unnecessary and difficult to read.
They also detracted from what could have been a half decent book. In places the storyline was completely lost to the long winded in-depth description of exactly what act of abuse boys were subjected to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Page turner, 10 Feb. 2013
This review is from: The Noose Tightens (A Sergeant Martin Nicols Mystery) (Kindle Edition)
The Noose Tightens is a really interesting and suspenseful story that has some unexpected twists that you will not see coming. The story starts with what looks like a suicide that turns out to be murder. As sergeant Nicols investigates it turns out that there are links back to both his past and the police and if this will ruin Nicols career before he has uncovered the truth. Gripping physiological crime book that is a real page turner.

This is the engrossing tale of the murder of a young homosexual and 3 similar murders 9 years later. It is basically a tale of 2 halves - the 2 investigations and the differing outcomes. I found it to be a real page turner and read it in one sitting. It is, however, extremely graphic and the subject matter, paedophilia, is not for the faint of heart. Unfortunately, in light of recent scandals, I suspect that the action may not be as far from the truth as i would like it to be and as such it is sickening - both the paedophilia and the authorities' desire to sweep it under the carpet. This is definitely worth a read.
I recommend that you move straight on to the follow up The Tangled Web as it takes up where this leaves off.

The book needed to be proof-read as mistakes tend to spoil the flow of reading, otherwise a well written plot..
