Season two continues from the previous series. A demoted and sneaky sgt Alan ward (john carslisle) continues to assist the straight laced Chief supt John Kingdom (john woodvine)

my fave episodes and story-lines include a gangland murder with a tough and smart suspect named Terry Bowers and another compelling episode shows a possible racial killing

One episode with Chief supt Kingdom's wife taken hostage was made entirely on negative film stock

Season two has more action and all the episodes are well written and brilliantly preformed.

This tv series shows what good story telling and wonderful actors can achieve compared to modern tv and film with lots of digital technology and stylish looks and modern media entertainment tend to lack depth and often hallow and shallow .

Scotland Yard is highly recommended for people that enjoy drama with great stories and dialogue

I already have season three.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over worked Coppers, 16 Jan 2014

I'm not a particular fan the 1970's but I have to say the stories and acting are excellent. An early example of interviewing suspects using the 'good cop, bad cop' approach. John Carlisle is almost sadistic as the aspiring assistant detective to superintendent Kingdom. Where as John Woodvine is just so slick and what you hope every senior policeman would be like. He always seems sympathetic to lives of the criminals he encounters but he still makes sure they get their just deserts! Brilliantly done with many familiar actors either just starting out or near retirement in their careers.

I was brought up in my early days under the legal umbrella of the English senior Police Force called Scotland Yard, what you might call the British equivalent of the RCMP. In those days of the early 20th Century, with no TV's, talk radio and very "loud" daily rags
got their kicks by reporting on the efforts of those "tecs from the Yard" who were called upon whenever the local boys in blue were out of depth. Many writers made their names creating fiction about our protectors but the daily press reported succinctly at great length what was happening. And when you buy NEW SCOTLAND YARD, you're getting more of the guts and the grist that I remember before I camed to wonderful Canada. I reallyenjoyed this set and I'm sure you will.
