This is proof that life is full of surprises, that can creep up on you when your radar is down, expect the unexpected as they say,and that is what you get here, for this is the collision of rock god Lloyd cole and ambient maestro Hans Joachim Roedelius, and this is marvelous stuff.
The two musicians never actually met to record this, and the results are both fascinating and beguiling, there is no sign of Coles' usually good sounding guiar work,or HJRs distingtive grand piano, this does not affect the quality in any way.
......Pastoral.....4.23.....is like ambience personified, with a metronomic glockenspiel sound,an impressive start to the procedings.
......Sebsportrait Reich......$.25.....It is inevitable that some of this album will sound like Cluster, but this does not detract from this at all.
.......Wandelbar......5.49.....a slighly darker more Germaanic scenario that is very good indeed, this as ddo sso many electronic tarcks sounds like "the glass world of Anna Lockwood" an early avante garde Decca recording which is well worh looking out for.
......Still life with Kanyu......7.17......another shimmering gem that seems to transcend definition, absoluty wonderfull,it has nuances of Japans "Still life in mobile homes"
.....Tangolargo......5.32.......A more forcefull piece, than has gone before, with African nuances.
.......Orchel.......4.04......This is vey sixties sounding, perhaps it is meant to sound as though it eas recorded wwith analogue equipement, although it does sound like the main instrument is a Button Accordion.
......Higs.......6.14.....Telephone ringing sounds abound on this track, sounds like something from the sixties sertes "Lost in space"!!
.....Fehmarn/FO......2.35......Extraordinarily inventiveness is on show here.
......Virgine.....5.00....... is addreamy ballad
.....lullerby......3.53.......Has a child like quality that brings the show to an end.
