Pantheon (Boston, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I've loved this show ever since it's first Broadway run; and I'm lucky enough to own BOTH the CD releases of the Original Broadway Cast (the one with Ceylon & Moonfall Quartet and the one with all the endings).

What THIS recording does is bring together the best of all previous recordings with an excellent new cast. I read a review recently saying Chita Rivera let this recording down. ARE YOU MAD?!!! She's wonderful. I loved Cleo Laine; but I think Chita makes the character of Princess Puffer entirely her own and her rendition of "The Wages of Sin" is a joy.
The new songs (new to a recording that is) are great and really nice to hear after all these years.
This is the most complete recording of this score to date and is, quite simply, a must-have for any serious musical theatre fan. The week I received it I had it playing non-stop for four days.

If you have the Original Broadway Cast, then don't worry, you will not be disappointed with this version.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Tis is the recording of the recent second production on Broadway ; it is complete with all the numbers and various suggested endings. This show was a major success on its first outing 10 years ago but flopped quickly in London with an inferior cast .
It is a very enjoyable score full of character and makes some sense musically of Dickens' lack of an ending .The cast is superb and it is wonderful to hear the charismatic Chita Rivera make a return to Broadway after so long and sounding stunning at the age of 80.
Full marks.
