5.0 out of 5 stars WEIRD
A gem of a DvD that shows some quite weird examples of past British children's films. It's a pity that there is nothing similar today to focus on some excellent acting but, more importantly, directing. Even some of the effects are breathtaking considering the technology available at the time; eg the Boy Who Turned Yellow is a real triumph.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange
Not the best of the CFF DVDs released. Interesting for sure, & if you like CFF you'll like it, but not the best.

3.0 out of 5 stars All fairly good if a bit far fetched, 5 Nov. 2014

A little bit silly, but then that's the Childrens Film Foundation, its all about kids! All fairly good if a bit far fetched, but still worth a watch.
I go for these sort of oldies because of the locations, and seeing the old actors we know, as they were in those days. The C.F.F will always be a favourite of mine. I hope they bring out more, because I know there were more made.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Archers' Last Hurrah, 21 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Children's Film Foundation Collection: Weird Adventures (The Boy Who Turned Yellow | The Monster of Highgate Pond | A Hitch in Time) [DVD] (DVD)
The last collaboration of the great filmic duo of Powell and Pressburger (The Archers) would be interesting for that alone, but the award-winning little film happens to be great fun and delightfully quirky, aided by glimpses of a bygone London (notably the Tower).

And their contribution does tend to tower over the other two though all the filmic contributions are worth a look if you like at least attempts at thought-provoking, challenging children's cinema.
