Funny in Parts
on 30 December 2012
The first Ice Age film combined a strong storyline about family with some good jokes and is, by far, the best of the series. Subsequent films ditched story-telling for more wacky characters and backchat - fine for younger kids, but boring for the rest of us. "Ice Age 4" gives us a bit more story and some funny segments, though it still suffers from an excess of characters. Also the theme of "father learning to let go" is laid on a bit thick and is done far better in "Finding Nemo".
Overall, it is fun for young children, with just enough to make it bearable for the adults in the family.
