4.0 out of 5 stars Lorik Review
A very different perspective of the 5 Kingdoms, without it seeming a spin off. Enjoyable reading. Good well constructed likable characters

2.0 out of 5 stars Just about readable
I got through this book and made the mistake of buying the next one. The next book contains all the annoying features of this book with fewer redeeming features. I would recommend skipping the whole series to anyone thinking about starting here.

not what I expected from this author. all a bit dull and predictable, the story stumbles along and fails to grab your interest. A real shame. I'll probably give the next book a go though.

In liked the story and the characters but got a bit bored with the stabbing and hacking. Probably won't go further with this series.

It was a decent read. There were lots of fight scenes described in great detail - which are easy to skip through.
Good but not gripping. Quite well written.

Interesting concept - characters quite good if not described in depth but only superficially - this series of books is written in a template style - such as used by Enid Blyton.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great book from Toby, 7 Sep 2013

Lorik is a great character, he grows in strength as the book progresses & by the end he is not only a strong character but a near invincible warrior!
Pretty graphic & violent from the beginning however there is a strong story line that become even more apparent at the end of the book!
I really like Toby's writing style & would recommend all of his books.

Appears to be set in the same area and period of his Wizard books, this book is based on very few main characters, and although a little blood thirsty is easy to follow.
