Does everything it says it can do. However, I've had nothing but problems with mine as it keeps crashing. Sent it back to Lenovo for repair 3 times now, and it's been returned 3 times with the fault still occurring. Really not impressed. I have no idea whether its just my laptop, or if there's a problem with windows 8 or the G580 generally. Only reason that I didn't give it just 1 star was due to the fact that Lenovo technical support are so helpful when organising for repair. - Would I recommend? I'm split on that decision. If you got a guaranteed correctly working model, then yes. However, as that's impossible, no I wouldn't.
The cheap (ish) price and specifications were too good to be true.

Purchased June 2013 for daughter at school - she loved it, the colour was just right. The operating system (Windows 8) fell over after only a few minutes and got into a loop trying to fix itself. Eventually I used the small button to re-install the operating system ("one-touch" recovery I think its called). This took about 15 minutes. Able then to boot up and create a user but then had repeated intermittent crashes. I ran all hardware checks which all passed. Did Windows update of 60+ updates which failed towards the end and I think the system reverted itself (removed the updates). System was stable for about 1 hour so tried to save a system image but it crashed during this. Returned to vendor and after 1 month it came back with apparently new motherboard and disk. It seemed stable and the 60+ updates seemed to go ok (taking most of a day) but after several hours use it crashed and went into its self diagnostic loop and we were not able to boot up or one-touch recover. It has been returned with full refund. Person receiving it warned me that all laptops now have Windows 8 and they are getting a lot of problems. The alternative seems to be Apple. Personally I do not understand why manufacturers think they can deliver items which are not fit for purpose at this price.

This laptop is great and the price was £100 cheaper than in the shops. Delivery was very good and on time. I am not keen on the Microsoft system that is on it but that is not the fault of the product or seller.

It's a fabulous colour! It's very easy to use, nice big screen and once I'd put in my Outlook details, everything linked in and it was ready to use in minutes

The laptop came in a great condition but the problem with it is windows 8. It keeps freezing with no reason and keeps disconnecting my wi-fi.

For the price, this laptop cannot be faulted. I bought primarily for the 1tb memory and half decent RAM speed and was expecting to change the operating system to 32 bit windows 7 or Vista (I have old but cherished programs which refuse to work on 64 bit OS) but to my delight they installed perfectly!
Windows 8 does take a bit of getting used to, the apps system is only relevant to touch screens and for those who have lived with an android phone for a while - but a quick learning curve to something new and this is a dream. The keyboard is very easy to type on and keep clean while the glossy finish may show up fingerprints easier is easy enough to wipe down with a microfibre cloth. Good basic bundle of software to get you going and everything worked straight out of the box. I'm even tempted to buy another one as a spare!
I've seen a few comments about the track pad being over sensitive but it's like every new thing ever bought and just takes a bit of getting used to. For the gamers out there, you may want to look at a higher spec processor but for general use I have no complaints at all.

My fault, you get what you pay for. Screen flickers, battery runs out in under an hour, then only charges to 60%. These appear to be common faults and don't bother trying to contact Lenovo. Their web-site is totally user un-friendly. I guess they want you to pay for help/advice. My advice is to buy a reputable make, from a store, as you can then take it back. Amazon offer no help.
