5.0 out of 5 stars The clue is in the title
If the world of Incest and flagellation doesn't put you off or is something you are open minded enough to accept, then this book is very much the one for you, apart from the poor proof reading I found it very erotic and couldn't put it down until the last page had been turned.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Highly Steamy Tale of Victorian Family Goings-On
This book dates originally from 1953, at a time when its content would have prevented its publication in an easily accessible form. Use of the word `family' in the erotic literature context tends to suggest scenarios in which activity transcends normally acceptable behaviour, and this book is no exception. It concerns a widower paterfamilias, a lawyer, and his son and...

If the world of Incest and flagellation doesn't put you off or is something you are open minded enough to accept, then this book is very much the one for you, apart from the poor proof reading I found it very erotic and couldn't put it down until the last page had been turned.

Set in 1859 the head of the family is a renowned barrister on his way to being made a high court judge, who had his first experience of masturbation as he began experimenting with his close friend and was soon to be shown his friend's sister being birched, this sets the trend. After his wife conveniently died and left him without having to worry about being disturbed, he soon installed a suitably erotic governess. There the story jumps for six years to where his fifteen year old daughter and fourteen year old son are regularly beaten naked for his and the governess's pleasure, this quickly moves on to the brother and sister experimenting and eventually copulating. The book soon enough moves on to the entire party either being beaten or copulating, without any scruples and in graphic detail until the very last page.

This book dates originally from 1953, at a time when its content would have prevented its publication in an easily accessible form. Use of the word `family' in the erotic literature context tends to suggest scenarios in which activity transcends normally acceptable behaviour, and this book is no exception. It concerns a widower paterfamilias, a lawyer, and his son and daughter, for whom he has engaged a strict governess. Certain unfortunate circumstances in his own early life have left him with a submissive attraction for this governess, and her rigorous discipline is soon manifested on his own person as well as his offspring. He and she collude in the rarer forms of education of their charges, who prove more than adept pupils in this regard. The daughter, in particular shows admirable zeal in practising the amorous arts, including a parson and a senior judge in her intrigues. The proofreading of the volume leaves a little to be desired, but overall the book is well written and arousing in context.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh those Victorians!, 20 Feb 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Incest and flagellation, administered of course by a stern yet voluptuous governess, are the central themes of this book. There have been more Victoran novels elaborating these themes, but the big plus of this book is that the idiom and narrative style - although a bit old-fashioned by 2008 standards - are not as annoyingly Victorian and riddled with exclamation marks as the originals. Consequently, the (many) juicy bits generate much more heat, while the guilt-free "incest is fun"-atmosphere of Victorian smut is kept up.

As to the depth of 'gore' this book descends to, don't be fooled by the "Whoa"-liner notes of the publisher. The book's atmosphere is basically one of good clean fun and you won't find much (other than the incest, of course) in the way of very deviant or heavy-handed practises. An aging High Court judge turning out to be as lascivious as the members of this family may come as the biggest shock. To some of you, at least.

All in all, a hot little book, well above the average fare.

4.0 out of 5 stars Victorian pornography, 10 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Family Man (Kindle Edition)
Incest, flagellation, oral, under aged, this book is full of it. Be warned.

Victorian pornography is explicit although some of the terminology will make you smile. There is a loose story that connects various pornographic incidents.

Do not read if the material will offend or you are looking more for erotica than pornography. Take the book for what is aspires to be, and you will not be disappointed.
