4.0 out of 5 stars A fine release, but could have been even better...
This double DVD, is in many ways a bona-fide 5-Star worthy product.

Some of the content has been previously available on various VHS releases (Maiden England, 12 Wasted Years) and other DVD releases (Visions Of The Beast). But there is also plenty of 'new' archive stuff (3 concert encores) and the continuation of the 'History Of Iron Maiden' documentary with...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
After awaiting for the next instalment in this early days serious, delighted when it arrived.
First up the 40 minute documentary, good but too short would have loved to see more of the somewhere in time footage.

Second the extras are good great to see the 12 wasted years video again.

Third the main concert, arguably maidens best live video, not...

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool Show!, 15 Jun 2014

This review is from: Maiden England '88 [DVD] [2013] (DVD)
I remember this; the tour, in the winter of '88 after they headlined the Donington 'Monsters Of Rock' Festival. The 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' tour and album.....

Iron Maiden were at the peak of their powers. They were in support of an album that, until their recent incarnation, was their apex. They would creatively drop down a notch or two....

Famously this was directed by Steve Harris, as a complete antithesis of their '85 'Live After Death' film.....that one was filmed like it was in an arena, which it was. This? Well, the NEC can hold around 9,000 on a good day, depending on production, and Steve filmed it so it appears more like a club gig. That's my only gripe with it. Still, a very commendable job....

The songs? Well, Maiden was just off the back of 3 Top 10 hits in the UK, so it was all strong stuff; 'Moonchild', 'The Prisoner', 'Can I Play With Madness', 'Heaven Can Wait', 'Wasted Years', 'The Number Of The Beast' and 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' are just some of the heavy hitters.....

As per usual with the Maiden DVD's, we get bonuses; the on-going 'History....' Is fascinating, covering the years '86-'88, a documentary of the first 12 years and promo vids galore.....

A great package. A bloody good show....just wished there were a few more wide/crowd shots in the mix too....

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the way to re-release a classic video!, 27 May 2014

I've been a fan of Maiden and this era since... well, 1988! And this double DVD is like first class time travelling.

The show must have been awesome. The video recording is quite unique in its directing and editing, for its time. I believe it was all done by Steve Harris, the band's bass player (a first for him at the time). The audio rocks, now on 5.1, like it should and it takes me there. Great!

All the extras are metal candy for fans. The new instalment of their History documentary is pretty good, pretty interesting. The 1987 doc "12 Wasted Years" is somewhat rare and absolutely precious. And the music videos are a must for collectors.

For those who want to get to know Maiden live on their home theatre, this might not be the best starting point... but it will not disappoint at all. It's Iron Maiden at their best, rocking the 80s!

There are some tracks that were not available on the '88 VHS edition, new 5.1 mix, great extras from the past, preserved in digital. This is a fine DVD to own, if you like true British heavy metal...

Up the Irons! :)

Essential Maiden. However, after all the years I waited for this to be released - I am disappointed by the video quality! However, it is over 25 years old so can't complain to much. 5 stars for the set list and performance, -1 star for the video quality.

This is sheer class from beginning to end. The concert is remastered and really clear with good sound (considering the age of the source) and the extras are well worth getting even if you have seen some of them before on 12 Wasted Year VHS. Buy this now!
