There is little more one can say about this artist.
It is a blessed relief to hear a real voice in contrast to the seemingly bottomless pit of sweet breathy young things (good though some of them are).
As usual the range of her material is most impressive. We get the usual sources (trad., Thompson, Costello, Telfer etc.) but I was pleasantly startled to hear a setting of a poem by Jane Yolen (Beauty & the Beast) and bowled over by a wonderful song from Alastair Hulett (He Fades Away).
Not the most light hearted of albums perhaps but a real treasure.
