I love the Murderdolls, but wasn't really aware of Wednesday 13 (probably to do with my age, I'm nearly 50). I heard Fang Bang and that it was OK, so went to see him on the latest tour (awesome) and got this Cd at the gig. I have to say I must've played 40-50 times since. Absolute killer. metal with a punky raw edge, I can hear hints of Crue, Cooper, Type o Negative, Sabbath. Every track is great although I think my fave's are Ghost Stories, Dixie Dead. I've been catching up on his back catalog (and now love Fang Bang), and think Skeletons was his previous best, but Dixie tops it. Buy it now, this guy deserves real success.

When you pick up a Wednesday 13 record you know what to expect but with the Dixie Dead it takes it to the next level. It completely blows away the previous effort Calling All Corpses and exceeds it in every single way. It's more ugly it's more dirty and also meaner. It grabs you by the balls and shows Wednesday is back on form with a vengeance. I like to note drummer Jasons "Shakes" West drumming is a lot more tighter and is the pulse of this screamer of a record. Compare the opening of Blood sucker to anything on Calling All Corpses and you will see what i mean. Riff wise were back to gutsy rock n roll courtesy of Roman and Jack also having a rhythm and lead adds a dimension to the sound which is really nice to hear. Troy and shakes are a powerful rhythm section worth mentioning. Of course Wednesday is on top form lyrically and vocally this is up there with some of his best work.

Arrangements and structure is what really cursed Calling All Corpses but with Dixie Dead it is brilliantly composed and each track has it's own exciting kick to it. There is not a weak track on this record and it certainly the best since 2006 release Fang Bang. This is a true return to form after being involved in the Murderdolls again. Hopefully we don't have to wait to long to have a new release.

If you a Wednesday fan this is what you need. Dark atmospheric 80's horror movie synth and angry guitars all with that twisted sense of humour that we love so much.

This has to be his best album yet! Gone are those teenage pleasing tracks of the past (record company pressure anyone) and here are 11 solid songs I have been listening to for a week solid. Being independent, sure the production has suffered, which is a shame, but if you love rock and horror then this will make your ears bleed with amazement!

This album is just amazin from start to finish. Stand out track for me was bloodsucker, but there will be alot more that will grow for sure. Wasn't too impressed with his last offering 'calling all corpses' But this album more than makes up for it. The man is total genius, he should be up there with the best of them.
