I first tasted this while in HAWKSMOORE waiting to be seated. They have a nifty little bar you can use while you wait and
i decided to try an 'old fashioned' cocktail (rye, cube of suger, bitters and ice).

MY GOD. It was the best drink i ever had. So i asked what whisky it was and they told me it was sazerac rye.

I bought it soon after and made...

I bought it soon after and made my own 'old fashioned' and my god it was good.

Ingredients

1 sugar cube
3 dashes Angostura bitters
club soda (optional)
2 ounces rye whisky

Glass Type: old-fashioned glass
Instructions

Place the sugar cube (or 1/2 teaspoon loose sugar) in an Old-Fashioned glass. Wet it down with 2 or 3 dashes of Angostura bitters and a short splash of water or club soda. Crush the sugar with a wooden muddler, chopstick, strong spoon, lipstick, cartridge case, whatever. Rotate the glass so that the sugar grains and bitters give it a lining. Add a large ice cube. Pour in the rye (or bourbon). Serve with a stirring rod.

This is my favorite drink - it mysteriously keeps going down though (hic).
Sazerac cocktails are the best things ever too.

I bought this for my husbands birthday, the following words are his.
"Made me fall in love with Rye. A must if you love regular bourbon."

Absolutely love this stuff. Makes a perfect sweet manhattan or of course sazerac cocktail. Unfortunately this is getting harder and harder to find, so grab it while you can!
