4.0 out of 5 stars Peterhead Porridge
An interesting insight into Peterhead prison from a former prisoner's point of view. A humourous account of the 'characters' both long term prisoners and prison staff. Written in short chapters - a very easy read. Though it must be said, some of the brief descriptions of the horrendous crimes committed are disturbing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably deserves a 3½ Star
Starts off well, and it’s not a really bad book, but it just gets a little repetitive. The author would probably argue with that assumption, disputing that they’re all different stories, but (fairly obviously) the setting’s the same, and so are some of the people. I was getting bored near the end.

The only word for this,I nearly fell out the bed laughing at ,
some of the things these prisoners done.
If I had worked there I would have been fired, the first day for laughing.

James Crosby was on our table on a Cruise we were on in February and his tales of life in prison made us want to read his book. He gave us a signed copy of his first book and we purchased his other book as well which I have yet to read. Peterhead Porridge is a funny and look at life in a Scottish Prison and is worth a read.
