Arianne Richmonde blew me away! What an ORIGINAL heartrending story!

She has done it again with her amazing writing style. But what a plot! What a fabulous storyline! I loved Shadows of Pearl maybe even more than Forty Shades of Pearl. I wasn't sure how Alexandre's and Pearl's story would continue after the seemingly HEA in book 1 but she more than delivered with this heart-wrenching, nail-biting novel which has you on the edge of you seat. I couldn't put my iPad down!

I have now read the whole trilogy and what I love so much is the way each book is different, each with its own journey and character development. You get to understand why the protagonists behave and think the way they do. Anyone who says that Pearl is an immature forty year-old has obviously not turned forty yet or is totally devoid of a sense of humor. Do we really want to be reading about some always do-and-say-the-right-thing heroine? Forty year-olds feel just as vulnerable as twenty year-olds when it comes to love; maybe even more so. They are just as sexy, just as beautiful. Forty year olds carry baggage, have wrinkles, have a past. Where are people getting this nonsensical idea that by the age of forty you should have your head completely sorted out? That's what makes Pearl so lovable. She is vulnerable, real and flawed. And she makes mistakes. Yet we are rooting for her all the way. I LOVE Pearl and her mad antics. She is one of the most believable heroines in a long time.

Arianne Richmonde doesn't lay it all out on the table as with, for instance, Bared To You. E.g...letting readers know from the outset that they will be reading about two messed-up characters. Her writing is more subtle, more layered. You discover little by little that both Pearl and Alexandre are both unusual and yes, pretty screwed up. There is humor, too. Neither takes themselves too seriously which I love.

In Shadows we see Pearl in a different light. As the title warns us the 'shadows' of her past' come back to haunt her and jeopardize her relationship with Alexandre. But the truth is, the way the novel is so cleverly structured and paced, we DON"T KNOW WHOSE SIDE WE"RE ON! There are so many twists and turns in this book that it elevates it to way more than just an erotic novel. At one point I didn't know WHO to believe. GREAT JOB Arianne Richmonde!

I really think this trilogy should be on the New York Times Bestseller list. It is different, really well written (perfect grammar, no repetition, great dialogue). Anyone who skips this trilogy is really missing out.

I read the first two books in just 6 hours! I could not stop reading this book. I found myself awake at 3am just because I couldn't stop reading it. Unfortunately I had to wait for the final book to come out. And after just finishing the final book now at 3am once again! I am happy with how the story needed. I feel all the books were equally as gripping and I struggled to put them all down. IF YOU LIKED FIFTY SHADES - you will love this all the steaminess but more romance. BRILLIANT I WILL MISS PEARL AND ALEXANDRE

This book is the second in the 'forty shades of Pearl' trilogy, and I used the title of the propellerheads song as this is what it covers, the protagonist's er...shady past, and her being haunted by it, worrying whether Alexandre, her love interest, will think any less of her. On the contrary, he seeks retribution and does it in spectacular style. This man could
Easily be EVERY woman's dream guy, unlike Christian Grey, whose description is a little too exiguous, proving Richmonde to be the better writer as she gives a detailed picture of the alluring Alexandre. There's a brilliant cliffhanger where Pearl and love rival laura meet mono e mono which makes you reach for book three. Again, it has its moments and caters to the ultimate female fantasy of being a kept woman in love with a drop dead gorgeous younger man. Definitely worth reading!

Pearl is an experience woman with secrets, Alexandre is a wealthy 25 year old who falls for this older lady hook, line and sinker! You'll want to smack Laura and be curious about Sophie! You'll fall harder for Alexandre because he does love Pearl and he wants to be hers and he wants her in every way!

There are many twists and turns and a cliffhanger to finish but fortunately the whole series has been published so I just 1-clicked the next, and then the next!

If you liked 50 Shades then in all honesty don't expect to find Pearl tied and spanked, Alexandre isn't that type of character, but they are both strong characters and even thought there isn't totally in the 50 shades et al genre its definitely a hot read!

I was so excited to read the next installment of the Pearl trilogy so started reading this straight away.

I was not disappointed. Both leading characters go on emotional journeys that will keep you wanting to turn the next page.

Another great book from Arianne.

I'm giving this book 5 stars as it is extremely well written and edited. It continues the story of Pearl and her romance with Alexandre.

But....OMFG what have you done with Pearl!!! From being a very strong independant, level-headed woman in book one, she's a totally different person in this book!! Neurotic and totally nutty and acting like a teenager instead of a mature woman!! Yes we can all do daft things when in love but seriously??!! She was off the scale when it came to being annoying!!

I will read book 3 as I really want to see how the story, and more importantly Pearl, gets back on track!!

Ebook: Shadows of Pearl ( The Pearl Trilogy)
Author: Arianne Richmonde
Fiction, Erotica,
This review may contain spoilers
Summary: This is BOOK TWO of The Pearl Trilogy. It is not stand-alone. If you have not read Forty Shades of Pearl (Part 1) you really need to do that first to get the maximum out of this book's plot and character development for the best reading experience possible.
Pearl Robinson feels like the luckiest woman in the world. In just a couple of months she is to be married to the man she's head over heels in love with: the wonderful and charismatic Alexandre Chevalier, fifteen years her junior and founder of the billion dollar social media sensation, HookedUp.
She is planning a white winter wedding in Lapland - the stuff that dreams are made of. Everything is perfect, not least her haute couture wedding gown designed especially for her.
But Pearl is convinced that Alexandre's sister and business partner, Sophie Dumas, has other, darker ideas.
And the shadows of Pearl's past come back to haunt her in ways she could never have imagined...

The Review
Well, Well, Well, I loved the first book in this series, the author made me feel like part of the book & this one was no exception, I was hooked from the beginning of this one, It had twists & turns which you don't normally expect from an erotic fiction novel, Pearl is still a very complex character, with even more issues that was not apparent in the first book, Alexandre is still the sex god & more, just like he was in book 1, but the one thing I was not entirely happy about, That damn cliffhanger, it totally struck me dumb, Really was not what I was expecting, I am not changing my mind I really love Alexandre and I think that he has been played, just a little, I can't say too much because of spoilers, so you will just have to get it, to see what I mean, I am really excited for book 3, coming out very soon, Highly recommended to all, buy the whole series you won't be Sorry, 5/5

OMG, think I was bereft when I finished this book, until I remembered it was a trilogy & that wasnt the end!! What a shock the ending was, couldnt put it down & read it in a day!! Thoroughly enjoyed it & it had me on the edge of my seat, although parts were a bit silly, or should I say Pearl was. Hope in the 3rd book she comes back fighting (maybe get those she thought against her on side!)
