5.0 out of 5 stars exciting,informative
A rare children's book that is both exciting and tells you about the real world. And it's about escape - which every child and young person longs to do at some time or another.

Walk the Wild Road is a lovely book. As with all Hinton's work, from Heart of the Valley (a great adult novel), to his books for budding teenagers and the wonderful Beaver Towers series (absolutely captivating young children's stories), you get characters who are so warm, fun and, if deep at times, so life affirming. The characters in Walk the Wild Road, set as they are in an unfamiliar, historical setting are all of these - totally memorable.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good page turner, 12 Feb 2013

I hope that the author will consider writing a sequal of when our hero gets to America and his subsequent adventures there.
It was easy to read and considering that it cost nothing or very little, was very good value.

I thought this book deserved five stars because it was a "proper" story. There are many books out there that don't connect with the reader but this one does. You get to know the characters so well and every detail can be remembered without the urge to put the book down. I will certainly be reading some more of Nigel Hintons books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!, 3 Feb 2013
This review is from: Walk the Wild Road (Kindle Edition)
I really loved 'Walk the Wild Road' by Nigel Hinton. It's an exciting story about a boy's (Leo) journey. I know girls would love the story as well as boys. There are some really nasty characters who make Leo's life very difficult. But there are some really warm people too who help him. The book is very difficult to put down because you really want to know what happens to Leo in the end. Lots of detail in the writing and the story moves at a very fast rate. I recommend it

Nigel Hinton is a superb storyteller. Leo's extraordinary journey is told with great energy and compassion. He meets with such fascinating characters on his exciting and sometimes harrowing quest to find a new life for himself.

This is a rather short book but it is a totally engrossing story about a young boy's misfortunes and his more pleasant encounters along his journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Story, 28 Jan 2013

An amazingly well written book. This is an incredible tale that I found difficult to put down. The characters are well-rounded and credible and the author has created a story of such fascination whereby he has brought the past to life. Highly recommended for both children and adults alike. You won't be disappointed.

Walk the Wild Road Nigel Hinton is a great writer of children's books (books that children really love) and finally you can get some of his books on Kindle; check out the glowing reviews for all his books on Amazon in the books section as well as on Kindle. This book is not only a spellbinding adventure that propels you to find out what happens next, it has characters that linger for a long time in the mind. The historical setting for this book is unusual and Hinton brings the past brilliantly to life through the perilous journey of a young boy and the friendly, and dangerous, people he meets along the way.

I enjoyed this. It is about the adventures of a young eastern European boy from a poor family at the time of the Franco Prussian War. He leaves the local manor house
