I finished this book off in double quick time. Its very gripping and I found myself saying "just one more chapter" every time I picked it up. It follows two separate strands, in two very different silos, each story tracking characters that are well rounded and a plot that is travelling towards the two meeting - just not in this book - aargh!

Just a great story and riveting to read. If you liked Wool and first Shift you'll love this one. The characters are well rounded and you're realy routing for them to get there. Can't wait for Wool 2 to come out in April

Twin stories of silo 18 being reset and of Donald, as he remembers what he was suppose to have forgotten and he realise even more of what is happening. Best book yet real page turner.

The next stage of the story seems to be unfolding but I sense someone getting paid by the word! Just got the next one which was very short and didn't really progress the story much.

Hugh Howey's on going post apocalyptic series continues to deliver a well imagined, exciting and thought provoking world.

Second shift follows on from First Shift in exploring how the world of the silos emerged and, more interestingly, why the society that exists within the silos takes the form it does. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the series evokes something of the feeling of Asimov 's Foundation trilogy - a plan with a scope of hundreds of years that is all but invisible to those caught up in its machinations.

I look forward to Third Shift impatiently.

I'm really enjoying this series, perhaps more than the first 5 Wool novels. It does feel a little short though. I'm not sure if this is due in part to me loving the series so much I can't put the books down until they are read.

It also drops some huge questions at the very end, which won't be answered until the next novel, and I have no idea when that will be. Hopefully not too long!
