Got this for a Toshiba laptop, works amaizingly. Everyone says that it crashes between 10mins to 1 hour, but so far I have played on it for ages and has not crashed once. Installing it was a bit of a hassle, you do need internet if you are going to install it on Origin. If you are stuck between getting the xbox version or this one, I would say go for this one, I have played both and this one is 10 times better, get this, you will not be dissapointed.

I was a little hesitant to purchase sims 3 after reading a lot of the negative comments but took the leap anyway.
It installed fine, Origin is quite slow at downloading but I've had this issue with Origin before it's nothing to do with the game itself. I'm currently running Sims off of my laptop which runs windows 7 professional, that's my main warning, please check which platform you use before purchasing the Sims as the wrong one will render the game useless. Also check all your drivers and specs are up to date.
The game once installed loads up quickly and it's simple to get in game and start playing.
For laptops I would recommend getting hold of a cooling pad/mat as this game does make your laptop quite hot, keeping the laptop cool should stop it crashing or overheating.
I'm glad I chose to purchase the game and am thoroughly enjoying it.

Good graphics and works well on windows 8. Shame you have to get expansion packs to fully access all areas of the game

When I first bought The Sims 3 on my laptop there were all these buttons and stuff, my reaction was urgh how on earth was I going to imagine this. But like with anything to do in life, you get the hang of all the buttons and building houses e.t.c, next thing you'll be a pro. The people are very realistic and there is a wider range of clothes for your sims, and you can choose the colours, making your sims' styles limitless! I like the fact that you don't have to wait for ages for a taxi to come up on The Sims 2 and you have this beautiful town you live in where you feel more like you live in, and the surroundings of your home doesn't look like your in the middle of nowhere, so you really look part of everything.

Now ladies and gentlemen, the downsides...

I must start with the lack of cheats. Yes there is The Sims 2 boolprop, but you don't exactly put boolprop in the cheat bar. But with this cheat you can only control the health meters and relationships, not the cool emotion toggle cheats that you use to help create emotions so you can make movies and all the other cool bits and bobs, and you cannot create your own town. You get that one town, it can't be desert and you certainly can't choose any different layouts or features to decorate it with.

Over than that it's good, but I regret to say that unfortunatly EA games forgot to put the cherry on the top for me.

can't create your own town

Arrived and I installed it promptly on my windows 7 installing the supernatural expansion right after, it's been fun can't complain really.

WARNING: If you game won't connect to origin check origin status as it might be offline, so don't go uninstalling things if this happens, but this has only happened to me one day since installing sims.

I have since then gotten some expansion packs such as SIMS3 SUPERNATURAL, SIMS 3 LATE NIGHT, SIMS 3 PETS.

Arrived quickly.

PS some glitches noticed in my expansion pack SIMS 3 PETS animals sometimes got stuck like the horse got stuck in the house and dog got stuck in the uneven floor, this was sorted by looking it up online and using cheats to fix problem.

Bad point, the using of households is more tricky, you have one main household and switching household and so forth might need getting used to.

Sims might age, if you don't want this stop it in settings.

I ordered this on a Monday afternoon, was told to expect delivery on the Friday. However it arrived on the Wednesday which was great. Installed with no problems on my laptop (Windows 7), and as a fan of the previous Sims games I knew I would love this one, too. The game play is great, especially being able to go from your house straight to someone else's house or to another location.

However on my second evening playing the game, my screen all of a sudden went blank and then the game closed completely, taking me back to my Windows desktop screen. When I went back in to the game, all the gameplay I ahd done that evening (around 2 hours) had been lost. This is probably partly my own fault for not saving my game regularly, however I did not expect it to throw me out of the game without warning! I am not sure if it was a glitch of the game or perhaps my laptop overheated? Either way I will have to remember to save regularly in the future, and would recommend others doing the same!

Overall it's a great game, so addictive, and currently at the bargain price of £11.99 (as the new Sim 4 is released later this year).

we have had all the sims and all the add on packs, we really like some parts of this game, you can do a lot more in the build mode and its great you can go all over the town.

I have been playing Sims since it first came out and yes it has always had it's issues, normally EA send it out without fully beta testing it as much as they should since they want to hurry up and get the money in their pockets like hungry wolves. Well I'm tired of being an innocent sheep. The Sims 3 sucks. Not only is it FULL of problems but EA are fully aware of a large majority of these problems and rather than fix them leave it to their (frankly, amazing and incredibly helpful) computer tech-wise fans to sort it out for everyone else. The premise of the game is built of simulation with the open world and vast possibilities, also surrounding the legacy idea for which is heavily featured in most player's minds when setting out to play a new family it is practically impossible. After the second generation (if you're lucky enough for it not to bug out in the first gen) of sims in your family you will start to experience the world that is sims modding (mods) as you hold you breath and cross your fingers that somewhere on this vast internet you will find the non-EA related fixes people have come up with for your never ending problems.

In conclusion, if you like spending most of your time fixing problems and staring at loading screens then this is the game for you. Just make sure you have a couple of spare keyboards lying about as you are most likely to break a few smashing your head on them in frustration.

The last EA game I will ever buy.

And with that I wish you adieu.

Make sure you don't lose the manual as the product key is recorded on it. My 12 year old is enjoying playing this game with the Pets expansion pack.
