5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic quest through an alternative London
A wonderfully whimsical debut in which a disillusioned archaeologist and his contrary dog Hrolfgar are drawn through a surreal London landscape of personified buildings and living statues in a quest for, amongst other things the secret of Richard III.

1.0 out of 5 stars weird stuff
Trying to be clever and failing. the book is as incomprehensible as the 5 star review! I waded through it getting more and more bogged down.

A wonderfully whimsical debut in which a disillusioned archaeologist and his contrary dog Hrolfgar are drawn through a surreal London landscape of personified buildings and living statues in a quest for, amongst other things the secret of Richard III.

Izzard, the central character is joined by his eccentric publisher Gerontius as they follow a quest of clues set for them by a shadowy trickster, dogged by red tape and with interruptions and commentary from someone who may or may not be the legendary Arthur.

Bertram Latimer has created a masterful alternative reality in which it is a pleasure to join him. The book has a sardonic humour and teams with clever asides, twists and fiendish puzzles.

Love the Ravens of History!
