I found this movie to be somewhat disappointing. It was one of those "found footage" type movies which normally I like, but I just wasn't drawn in by "The Bay" at all. It didn't really have any thrilling moments in it. It was one of those movies where after the 30 minute mark you tend to keep watching the clock to see how long is left. Its not the worst movie I've seen but I certainly won't be watching it again or recommending to anyone but a hardcore fan of this genre of movie.

2009, the town of Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Something has infected the water, but it's not known what it is or how it is transmitted.

But when people start turning up dead and others start to do strange things, fear turns to panic and the town is shut down.

The Government confiscate all video footage from every source possible. This footage which is put together by a news reporter who was there......

Another month, another found footage movie, but this time there is a twist, it's an actual prolific director who has made it, and its not as bad as you would think, being that the main selling point on the poster is 'from the makers of Insidious, and Paranormal Activity' which to honest puts me off now.

The film isn't particularly scary or very effective with its message, but its different like last years Chronicle, and doesn't need a poltergeist, Witch, or alien to have a gimmick to enthuse people.

This is a film about people getting sick, and the cost of pollution.

It's a strange way to get a message over, but it does, albeit a little heavy handed.

It's not as good as some critics have stated, but it isn't as bad as you'd think.

Just an average, forgettable movie, with a little bit of gore, and a few good jumps.

I actually really enjoyed this film, it is slightly different to many films out there. Handheld footage, some scenes it is annoying, but otherwise not too bad. It is slightly creepy, and they do a relatively good job of capturing the horror of the whole situation.

The Bay is a mockumentary of 'found' footage narrating the breakout of an infection at a seaside bay, during the 4th July celebrations. The main character narrates the footage, she becomes like an annoying directors commentary, boring and unnecessary for most. The Bay reminded me of a sedated version of Jaws; cue the obnoxious town committee, the height of the holiday season, and widespread terror, minus the shark and all the gore.

Instead I suggest you wait until the weather warms, and head to your local seaside town, as there are many real life terrors to be seen there.......and for free.

A slow burning found footage biological horror film... set around a town resort. I understand why it wouldn't appeal to some or why others didn't like the film, but, being a person with an abnormal capacity to sit through almost any film that takes a while to finally punch you in the face with whatever obscene, grotesque or simply disturbing and horrifying scenes it throws at you, I enjoyed this film a lot. Don't expect over the top gore or jump out of your seat frights, instead be prepared to expect to actually think about the films events and put yourself into that situation. Nobody wants a parasite inside them at any given time, so that is why we watch The Bay to see and think about the idea of this (much like almost every other horror film going), which is what makes it entertaining because it's like a fake biology lesson giving you the views and opinions of the auteur who visualises the concept.

So overall I give this film a 4/5 and the blu ray quality a 4/5 as well. It is very clear and worth the few extra quid for the upgrade :)
