This is a perfectly good iron, with all the standard features in a well designed unit. It has one great unique feature and one slight niggle.
First, that unique feature; most people are probably familiar with the common problem of trying to get the iron's cable to wrap around the iron and stay wrapped. Russell Hobbs are obviously aware of this and the included plug storage socket allows you to wind the cable up and hold it in place for storage. The socket twists, allowing you to tighten the cord around the fluted part of the base; all very handy.
As a steam iron, it works really well: it heats up quickly, has a decent water tank, produces ample steam, steams vertically and features a narrow, pointed sole plate that is good for more precise ironing and glides well over fabric.
For the most part I think this is a great iron. That one slight niggle though: I found the edge where the harder plastic upper of the handle meets the softer lower is irritating to my hand. Now, I've got used to this and barely notice it but it may have put me off using it had I had a chance to hold it out before using it.
Overall: a good, practical iron, from a company who seem to be intent on innovating.
EDIT: The ratchet in cable winder became loose after less than a year; I'm not a frequent ironer by any means. However, it does still wind up, I just worry about the build quality now.
