use this book to help you set up Wordpress sites
on 30 November 2012
If you want to establish a web prescence for any reason then you need a site and if like me you are not a techie then that means setting up a blog. Personally if I want to build a website then I use Wordpress because apart from being nice and straight forward to set up, Google loves them and that should be reason enough for anyone :) It took me a long, long time before I started setting up sites, I kept telling myself that it woud be way too difficult and expensive, when I finally started I found that it was easier than I thought, but like anything there is a learning curve, and I really wish that I'd had Nancy's wordpress book when I started because it would have saved me a lot of wasted time!!!!!!!!!!
First of all there is a mass of information in the book which covers everything that you need to build a website. More advanced users might want to skip the first section which deals with the basics of domains, hosting and getting wordpress onto your site. For those who are a bit concerned about their ability to set up wordpress, Nancy takes you through the process clealry and concisely. You get and indepth look at how to tweak your site and what plugins (saves you a lot of time) to use, and why you need to use them. Apart from the stuff that is readily available on wordpress, Nancy also talks about some external services which depending on what you want to use your site for could make your life a whole lot easier.
Whilst the focus is probably more on the newbie and intermediate user, I was able to find some useful information in there as well. This is a clearlt written and highly informative book, and well worth reading.
