For me Luke Morley, can do no wrong. Whether it be in Thunder, The Union or indeed, as Bowes/Morley - throughout, he has always dished up the goodies. His guitar playing succinct and to the point and his songwriting too, and although he has a tuneful enough voice, what this album lacks is a good strong vocal - such a pity that the likes of Danny Bowes was not asked because that would have taken a good album into the territory of being a great album.
However, I digress. For those thinking that this will be merely a Thunder outing are going to be disappointed unless, of course, they have already delved into the two Bowes/Morley albums where their penchant for soul music was very much to the fore and indeed here, there are soul moments as well as soft rock numbers ("Sacred Cow" and "A Face In The Crowd") and even a touch of Santana territory too. We know Luke can play a mean guitar, but hear his solo and infills on "Road To Paradise" it's pure class.
The additional material on the 2nd CD in this package is made up of unreleased demo's which perhaps suffer from the fact that they are incomplete, but the additional live three tracks from a concert in Japan back in 2001 shows Mr Morley having a bit of a ball. Certainly, this additional album does not stack up to much more than the original recorded album but for the completist, it's a must have!
All in all a satisfying album and certainly, at the price, is an absolute steal - it's going be stuck in my player for quite a whiles, and that's for sure!
