Having been a JW fan since '69 this album represents the band line up on stage the night I first saw him in Feb '71. Never had I seen, and never have I seen since such an exciting live band. The '71 album 'Johnny Winter And Live'is a fine testimony to this fact. It's part of Johnny's history that was the most exciting and very little of it is on CD. Rick Derringer seems almost written out of Johnny's past....why? There must be tapes in vaults of live and studio recordings from this band?
When 'Live at The Filmore East'was issued I leapt at it. The overall sound is good, unlike a lot of Johnny's own Bootleg series. The action and excitement through the dual guitar work is second to none. All tracks are great ......my criticism is that 'Good Morning Little School Girl' is the exact same same track as that on the '71 live album as is 'Mean Town Blues' but in it's entirity.
