4.0 out of 5 stars I like his writing
I read this book quickly and enjoyed it as it raced along Therefore I was surprised when it came to a screaming stop and left me dangling then told me I would have to get the next book to continue or finish the story A bit let down and will be a bit cautious in future

1.0 out of 5 stars Arena: Revenge
I actually love Simon Scarrow books. It gets only 1 star purely based on value. Nearly £2 for what is a 'Short Story' is a bit over the top.Its only about 90 pages long. A ripe off. I bought all four current Arena Series books thinking I would have days of reading However all four titles together amounted to an average book. Therefore in fact I paid £8 for the lot. I try...

A good, enjoyable and easy read albeit predictable. Committed to reading 5 & 6 when available and hopefully see Macro getting into more scrapes.

4.0 out of 5 stars With a bit of disappointment., 11 Jun 2013

It is in the same vein as the Eagle series which I enjoyed immensely.
However it loses a star in that this series is compiled of quite short
episodes. Macro has been demoted to Optio and Cato gets a mention,
but has not yet joined up. I don't recall any mention of this previous
life being noted in the eagle series. Also, why has Simon resorted to
using a guest writer ???.I associate this move with other well known,
but now regrettably aging, famous authors. No names mentioned.

Excellent continuing story, just too short. I look forward to the next installment, could these not be combined into one novel?

Nice follow on from the first three parts, especially liked the reference to Cato in the Imperial palace, this part also explains why Macro has never told Cato in the Scarrow Eagle novels of his involvement in the areana.as an Optio.
